Students at a small boarding school in Californian got an unusual request this summer; come back in autumn with a chair, a sunhat and plenty of sunscreen （防晒霜）. Moving classes outdoors was a central part of Midland School's plan to get all its students back to school. Actually, their return to school was delayed until mid-September. By holding classes outdoors, the school was trying its best to keep everyone safe at school.
It hos been a tradition for Midland students to grow much of the food they cat in the school's garden. And they also heat water for their showers by lighting a fire. So, the "new schooling model" is not a huge change for Midland students. The school puts a lot of efforts into each student's safety. There are very small classes- one teacher for every four students. Melia Collard began her final year at Midland in autumn. She said she was very happy to return to school.
Across the US, many other boarding schools also made changes to get students back to in-person classes while keeping them safe.
The Ethel Walker School in Connecticut bought many tents and outdoor chairs so that students could have some classes outdoors. Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, one of the country's oldest boarding schools, made changes so that every student could have a single room. It also rebuilt a building where students could stay on their own if necessary.
The world largest education publisher, Pearson, will slowly stop using printed textbooks. It has made a decision to make all of its learning resources "digital first".
Pearson thinks the future of the industry is in e-books and digital services.
Pearson CEO John Fallon explained more about the company's future direction. "We are now over the digital tipping point. Over half our money we get every year comes from digital sales, so we've decided, a little bit like in other industries like newspapers, music or broadcasts, that it is time to begin to change the way we mainly make and create our products." He added, "I am sure and excited about it. Pearson says that a huge advantage of digital books is that they can be continually updated, which means teachers will always be able to use the latest versions of textbooks.
Mr Fallon said Pearson would stop its business model of revising （修订） printed course books every three years. He said this model had played an important role in the industry for over forty years and was now out date. Fallon said, "We learn by taking part and sharing something with others, and a digital environment makes us do that in much more effective way." Pearson is taking the first step by making students rent printed textbooks instead of buying them. Its physical books will also be updated much less often than the present way of every three years.
John Falllon said the change would begin in the US, and then spread to other markets, including the UK. Next year, the British company will update only 100 of its 1500 US print titles, down from 500 this year.
Adolescence （青春期） is a hard time for parents! It's a time when many children change from sweet and lovely little things to great big monsters, and communication seems to come to a stop. Many parents experience arguing or even fighting when talking to their teenagers in their adolescence.

If you take steps now to change how you communicate, you might be able to improve your relationship and make your teen come to you for advice. In order to know what's going on in your teen's life, you need to keep the door of communication open. Never act like a spy. If they find out they have been under watch secretly, you might lose any chance of good communication.
If you keep ignoring your teenager because you're busy, then they will feel that you don't care about them and won't come to you when they need you. Having a conversation while playing with your smartphone means you aren't paying full attention to them, and they will think that you don't put them in an important place.
