Honored Sir, 

Your letter, sent to me through your Legation at Washington, confers upon me great honor and gives me great pleasure. I am glad to have carried a message from the Bohemian (波希米亚) neighbors, whom I grew up with, to their home country of the

Czech Republic.

I have just returned to New York, where I had the pleasure of taking Annie Pavelka, the living "Antonia" in my book My Antonia, and six of her children to the first screening of A Lost Lady. I have the good fortune to proserve relations with most of my characters. "Antonia" and her splendid children are flesh and blood realities. Every time I go back to them, I feel how much more interesting and lovable they are than my picture of them. I wish I could present them to you in person.

I regret that I cannot satisfactorily meet your kind request for biographical (传记的) material. I avoid biographers, asking them to wait until I get my work further along. My first novel was published in 1912, and a period of twelve years is hardly long enough for a writer to find the form best suited for writing. I was not young when I began to write, and though living is a good preparation for writing, I do need more time to acquire a simple and modest way of presenting my work, however well I know what I wish to present.

I am able to send you a very good photograph taken recently. I enclose a short biographical account which my publishers use for publicity purposes, and some casual reviews. Biographies usually begin to come along just about the time a writer has no more to say, and I do not feel that time has yet come to me.

Call Numbers

Books and material are arranged on our shelves according to the Library of Congress (LC) classification system. These call numbers uniquely identify and organize items near other material on the same or similar subjects. Consider the call number: LB2395 C65 1991.

●LB defines the subject area. The call letters are typically arranged in alphabetical (字母的) order, starting from A and continuing through the alphabet. Knowing the letter(s) for your subject area gives you a place to start browsing the shelves. For example: A—Special request General Works; B—Special request Special request Philosophy, Psychology, Religion; D—Special request World History; G—Geography; H—Special request Social Sciences; J—Special request Political Science; K—Special request Law; L—Special request Education; M—Special request Music; N—Special request Arts; P—Special request Language and Literature; Q—Special request Science...For more, click here.

Some call numbers have a location prefix. I ocation prefixes mean that the book or material is shelved in a special place, and may have loan restrictions. WSU uses the following prefixes:

For all programmers and processor industry participants, the RISC-V website is almost a must-visit as an open standard. Unlike X86 and ARM, which are owned by certain enterprises, RISC-V is an open one, allowing anybody to download its instructions handbook and use it. Maybe that is why some US lawmakers are targeting RISC-V. Republican Senator Marco Rubio and Democratic Senator Mark Warner have reportedly been urging US President Joe Biden to take action regarding RISC-V, because, they fear that Chinese companies might make use of the open-source platform to improve their chips(芯片) technology.

Maybe the legislators(立法者) do not realize that by targeting RISC-V they are targeting not only a company or a platform but the idea of openness itself. Being a US company. RISC-V has a global membership, with a number of Chinese and US enterprises as members. It has for long been known as an open-minded institution promoting technological cooperation despite the political tensions, and the US lawmakers targeting it seem to be closing one of the last channels of technology communication between China and their nation.

By doing so they are harming the United States' own interests and its technological leadership in the world. Open source is a good computing tool that benefits those who share programs as well as those who learn from it. The Android smartphone system, for example, has developed largely because Google decided to make it an open-source system, which attracted worldwide smartphone businesses to adopt its standard.

The US lawmakers might next target GitHub, or, some day, even forbid programmers from accessing the Internet. That will only lead to the US losing its technological edge, never to get it back again.

One of Kenya's famous camping sites is found about 230 kilometers north of the capital, Nairobi, in the Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve. This approximately 177-square-kilometer lake is home to many varieties of plants and fish. The camp features well-maintained grounds with all major activities within easy reach of each other. The Crayfish Camp, located 18 kilometers from Naivasha town, also has green grounds that can accommodate 400 campers.

For visitors who love touring coastal areas, Kenya offers Mike's camp on Kiwayu island. in the Lamu Archipelago. The campsite sits next to two villages, Kiwayu, which is an hour's walk south of the camp, and Chandani, a 20-minute walk to the north.

And the disease (coronavirus infections, any of the five). doesn't give lifelong immunity anyway, not before 2019, not after 2023. Nothing new: You get seasonal colds every season; these are often coronaviruses.

 Pay attention to the people closest to you, the ones who know what they're doing and, more important, share your risk pool (same town or county). Ask your medical provider what you should do. They are advised by the county, which gets information from the state, which gathers patient CDC data.

Animals want our attention, and sometimes they're quite obviously about asking for it. Unusual behaviors are often our pets' way of telling us to stop what we're doing and play with them. It's why Fido constantly chases his tail and why Kitty keeps rolling around. A desperately bored pet may have "bad" behaviors to get a reaction - even a negative one!

Feed me.

Sure, your dog loves you, but that's not why he's licking (舔) your face. A puppy learns to lick his mother's mouth to get a little leftover food, so Spot isn't kissing you in our sense of the word; he just wants a snack.

I'm stressed.

Cat owners also misinterpret their furry friends'kisses. While a cat might lick you to show love, sometimes she'll do it to ease herself. One way to tell if her licking is stress-related is to see if it goes on for an extended period of time. Birds also over clean when they feel anxious. Some will even drag out their own feathers.
