    Training Honeybees

Honeybees(蜜蜂) can be trained to search for dangerous chemicals(化学物质) because bees have a very good sense of smell.

Since bees have brains the size of a pinhead(针头), you might think that they would be slow learners. Bees can be trained to find a new smell in just one or two days. They are given a chemical smell.  After this is repeated once or twice, the bees lean to link(联系)the new smell with a food reward (奖励;奖赏).

The next step is to allow the bees to search for the bottles marked with the same chemical smell. Each time a bee finds a bottle, it is rewarded with sugar water.

, but dogs have good days and bad days. Bees are always ready for work. 'It takes months to train just one dog, but it only takes a few days to train' 10,000 bees or more. With many bees working together, bees can search large areas quickly.

When you see many trained bees gathering in one area, you can know dangerous chemicals are below.

    A. Immediately, (立即;马上) after that, the bees are given a drop of sugar water.

    B. Dogs also have an excellent sense of smell

    C. We can often see that many bees are kept to make honey for us.

    D. But this is not the case.

    E. Bees can also get in places too high for a person to reach and too small for a dog to enter.

    F. Bees are much smaller than dogs but dogs are always afraid of bees.

    G. After several days, the bees are fully trained and will search for the smell even without a food reward.
