Last Wednesday, our teacher Mr. White held up an apple. First he stood on the platform(讲台) and said,"Please smell(闻) it 1 the air,and . . . "
One of my classmates Alice put up her hand and said 2 ,"I can smell it. It is the smell of an apple. "She is always the top student in my class.
My teacher said 3 and he just walked down from the platform, went by each of us and said,"Smell again to see if the smell of the 4 is still in the air. "
Half of my classmates put up their hands to show that they could smell 5 . My teacher went back to the 6 of the classroom and asked again who else could smell the apple. The rest 7 their hands except(除了) Bill. The teacher came to Bill and asked,"You really can't smell the apple?"
Bill answered,"No,I can't smell it. I don't think it's a 8 apple. "
My teacher smiled at Bill and said to us,"He's right! It's not possible to 9 the apple smell from this apple. "
Some of us might think that the apple didn't have the apple smell, 10 they didn't dare to speak up. We just followed Alice and went wrong. Mr. White gave us an important lesson on that day.
Do you hear of the Old Tea Forest of Jingmai Mountain? The mountain is in the city of Pu'er,Yunnan province. On September 17,2023,this cultural landscape(文化景观) was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List(《世界遗产名录》). It includes nine villages, three old tea planting places and three forests.
In the tenth century, the ancestors(祖先) of the Blang(布朗族) people came to the mountain. They discovered wild tea trees and started to produce tea from them. Later, the Dai and some other ethnic groups(民族) also came to live here with their colorful cultures. These cultures added something more to Jingmai.
Here, the locals hold important festivals. The Shankang Festival of the Blang people, for example, honors their"tea ancestors. "Another example is the Water Festival of the Dai people. During these festivals, they give their thanks to the tea trees. They also make good wishes for the tea forests.
In Blang culture, every tea tree is said to have a spirit(灵魂). For this reason, the Blang people there do not use pesticides(杀虫剂) on their tea trees. They use natural ways to get good tea.
In this place, the mountain nurtures(养育) tea,and tea nurtures people. Tea is an important part of the locals' lives. They are thankful for the gifts from nature!
Let's Enjoy a Movie!
| Chang'an |
This movie shows a fantastic journey through time and culture but goes beyond me re historical drama. It's a celebration of enduring friendship and the unbreakable human spirit amid political turmoil(政治动荡) . Language:Chinese Type:Cartoon Running time:2 Hours and 50 Minutes Price:Weekdays﹣¥39(free for kids under 6) Weekends﹣¥48(free for kids under 6) |
I think the movie is so wonderful. I greatly admired the friendship between Li Bai and Gao Shi. Li Bai liked freedom and traveled around the country and Gao Shi aimed to be an official. Though they were really different, they'd been friends since they were young. I would like to introduce this movie to more friends and classmates.

The movie is so well made. I went to see it with my 13﹣year﹣old daughter and 5﹣year﹣old son last Saturday. I loved the touching story and my daughter thought the little Du Fu was so cute.

It was a busy morning. At around 8:30 am,an old man in his 80s arrived to have his stitches(缝线) taken out from his hand. I asked if he had a doctor's appointment(预约). He said no but he was busy, because he had a 9:00 am appointment. I asked him to take a seat and told him that it would be over an hour before someone could see him.
Then I noticed him looking at his watch time and time again, and I wasn't busy at that time. So I decided to check his wound(伤口). After checking,I saw his hand was getting better. I got the tools to take out the stitches and dressed the wound again. While taking care of him,we started to have a talk. I asked him why he was in a hurry. He said he needed to get to the old people's home to have breakfast with his wife. I then asked about her health. He shared that she had been there for a while.
As we talked and I finished dressing his wound,I asked if his wife would be angry if he was a little late. He answered that she couldn't remember him,and that she hadn't known him for five years. I was surprised and asked,"And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"He smiled and replied,"She may not know me,but I still know who she is . "
What comes to your mind when you think of a library? It has so many books. It is quiet. It is a good place to study. . . and to sit in a trance(发呆). Yes,to sit in a trance.
The library at the Guangdong University of Finance & Economics is a good place to do it. The library has "six relaxing zones",or Fa Dai Qu in Chinese. These zones have tables, chairs, plants and other facilities. There, students can sit in a trance, have snacks, walk around,or have talks. They are good places for students to relax and find inspiration(灵感). They are very popular among students. And the university is working to improve the zones so that students can stay more comfortably in them.
These zones also become a hot topic online. They make people have a change of heart about sitting in a trance. Some people think that sitting in a trance means wasting time. But it is not true. Expert s say that it is necessary for everyone. It gives people a useful and simple way to recharge(恢复精力) during busy times. Experts advise more schools and workplaces to set up such a zone to help people who look for a quiet and inspiring place. What do you think of the"relaxing zone"?
