I will never forget my trip to Bulgaria. I found everything interesting, like the restaurant I went to one day. After I finished my food there, a waiter politely asked if I enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the service was great. So I showed that I really loved it by nodding my head.
Strangely, the waiter did not smile but frowned (皱眉). It was like that he was not quite happy with my answer. I did not know what was wrong and felt very upset. A lady sitting next to me explained in English that in Bulgaria, nodding one's head means "no" and shaking one's head means "yes". This is completely different from my country.
I thanked the kind lady and called the waiter over. ▲ This time, the waiter smiled and brought me some dessert.
Body language is different from country to country. It is important for us to learn about a country's culture. Take a look at my experience and you will know why.
We do eye exercises. We wear sunglasses. We do lots of things to protect our eyes. But we usually forget another important part of our body--the ears. Ears help us hear the world. But many things, such as loud noises, can hurt our ears, even make us deaf. Once this happens, it's hard to get your hearing back. March 3rd is Ear Care Day. It reminds us to take care of our ears. So how can we protect our ears?Let's take a look together.
Keep your ears dry and warm
Dry your ears with a towel (毛巾) after swimming or taking a shower. If you feel water in your ear, shake your head a little bit. This can help you get the water out of your ear. Also, when the sun is shining, wear some sunscreen on your ears. During the winter, protect your ears with a hat or a scarf.
How to clean your ears
Usually, our ears clean themselves. The earwax (耳屎) builds up,dries out,and then comes out of the ear along with some dirt. Don't clean your ears with anything sharp (尖锐的),or it may make the earwax go too deep into your ears and hurt them. But if your ears start to hurt, you can go to a doctor for help.
How to use earphones
Don't listen to loud music on your earphones for a long time. Follow the "60 Rule":listen to music for no more than 60 minutes a day. Over-ear (头戴式)headphones are better than in-ear ones. It will do a better job of stopping outside noise. So you can listen at a lower volume.
When you and your friends turn to each other to talk about problems or troubles, you give each other advice and help. One important thing of our growth is to make decisions to help our friends and learn to support each other. This requires us to learn what it means to help friends and how to help them in right ways.
The first step toward helping others is to identify that they need help. We all know that difficulties are part of our daily lives. However, sometimes small things can lead to more serious problems that require more help. It's important to make sure when to help a friend. For example, you may pick up some signs that your friends are not acting like themselves. ▲
The next step toward helping others is to listen. Paying attention to others while listening is very important throughout our life. When we communicate with others, we need to learn when to speak and when not to. As listeners, we should try to understand what the speakers are feeling or experiencing and try to see things from their perspectives. Listening and paying attention to others when they speak is a sign of respect and a skill that will lead to deeper and better relationships.

Every day after school, I would 3 outside and wait for my dad to come home from work. He worked on 4 all day for drivers. When he got home, he was tired with oil on his hands. So the first thing he would do is to5 his hands. Then he sat in his old chair while mom and grandma were making dinner. After dinner, I loved6 onto his back and watching TV together.
