The Kennedy Elementary School band (乐队) is special. That's because Tony Boland, a member of it, is 79-year-old flute (长笛) player. His story tells us that you're never too old to toot the flute.
After working at the school for more than ten years, Tony joined the fifth graders in the band. His grandchildren were at the school. He helped children with their reading.
He started tooting the flute many years ago, when his wife tried to throw away (扔掉) their daughter's' flute.
"You will play better if you play with others," he told a reporter.
Brian Enabnit thought Tony would make a difference to the band.
"He's great. He's helping the students around him," Enabnit said.
Tony practises with the students once a week and performs with them. They played at the Dubuque Community School District's Band Festival earlier this month.
Fifth-grade student Courtney Less thought her older classmate was successful.
"He's an excellent player," Courtney said. "All of us are afraid when giving a performance, but he isn't."
Saturday, June 16th
In the morning，we went camping along a path in Green Natural Park. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.
However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o'clock，it was windy. Soon，there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide in.
Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we reached the campsite (野营地). It was even worse that our small compass showed that we went the wrong way. We had lost our way!
We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could put up a tent to hide in, so Mary and Tom helped to put up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o'clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us had been very tired.
This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I've learned from this trip is the importance of team spirit.

At first, the strong bear doesn't like him but finally he is touched by the young bear's kindness. So he helps the baby bear solve many problems like his fighting with a cougar(美洲狮).
There aren't any talking animals, but the movie is funny for kids of most ages. However, we wouldn't call it a children's movie. From the exciting movie about the two bears, a cougar and the hunters, we can know that the true meaning about life is that "The greatest skill(技能) is not to kill but to let live".

June came and the hottest month of the year began. A lot of travelers came to the city by the sea. All of the hotels were full except Mr. Johnson's. The prices of all the rooms were the lowest in the city but few people stayed there. The fire broke out three times in a year and four travelers died in the accidents. Most workers left there and found jobs in other hotels. Mr. Johnson had to do most work himself.
It was eleven o'clock. Most rooms were still empty. Mr. Johnson worked for the whole day and was very tired. He went to close the gate when a young man came in, with a big bag in his hand.
"What can I do for you, sir?" asked Mr. Johnson.
"The cheapest room in your hotel."
"OK," said Mr. Johnson, "but it's on the top floor."

"Of course, sir," said the manager. "It'll take you right there. By the way, may I keep your bag for you?"
"No, thanks. There's nothing expensive in it but a long rope."
Oh? What do you bring it with you for?"
"I'm afraid another fire will happen in your hotel. If it does, I'll throw the rope out of the window so that I'll be able to escape from (逃脱) it."
"Yes?" Mr. Johnson said in surprise. "So you have to pay for the bill before you go to your room."
Last week, I read a book-Life of Pi. It's about a boy from India 1 Pi, who traveled across the Pacific Ocean in a lifeboat.
