On my 12th birthday, I got a cell phone! I hugged mom and dad. The next morning at school, I constantly showed off my phone and asked everyone for their 1  . Karen has two children, a boy named Dave and a girl Nancy. They are both lovely. And the boy loves his little sister very much for he thinks he must protect her. Yet, the little girl got a serious illness one day and needed some blood. But the hospital couldn't find the same type of blood for the girl. Karen knew her both children have the same type of blood. So she asked her son, "Would you like to give your blood to your sister?"

Dave agreed at once. After transferring his blood, the boy asked his mother, "Mom, how long can I live from now on?" Karen understood her son had thought he would die soon after he lost some of his blood. So she said to him, "Don't worry, my son. You won't die if you lose a little blood."

"Really? How long can I live?" the boy asked his mother again. "I think you can live to be 100 years old," smiled his mother. The boy lifted his arms and said happily, "Well, please give half of my blood to my little sister! Then both of us can live 50 years!"

The negative health influences of plastic on both wildlife and humans have been well-known. However, the material, which is used for everything from shopping bags to drink bottles to food packaging, is hard to avoid. What's worse, the small percentage of recycled plastic is of lower quality and can only be used a few times before it has to be thrown away.

Now, French company Carbios wants to help solve the problem with a plastic-eating enzyme (酶) that digests plastic and turns it into its chemical building blocks. The resulting material can be used to create anything and, more importantly, can be endlessly recycled.

"Traditional method of recycling plastic is limited," explains Carbios CEO Martin Stephan. "And you cannot recycle it infinitely (无限). After six or seven cycles of recycling, the plastic might only be good enough to use for item like clothing or carpets, and eventually, it will have to be discarded entirely. So it's not a solution for the end of life of plastics, while our solution is an infinite recycling solution."

The recycling process, which is currently in its pilot stage, will be tested on a larger scale in France. The company has already signed up several large customers, who are all eager to reduce their ecological (生态) footprint. "Our goal is to bring this technology on the market by 2024 at large industrial scale," said Stephan.

However, Stephan believes we can only win the battle if people make sure that plastic waste doesn't end up in the environment or in landfills. So next time you use a plastic bottle or container, be sure to make the extra effort to place it in a recycling bin.

Have you ever read music? If so, you probably noticed lots of new symbols and words. Maybe you saw the word presto at the beginning. Perhaps you read piano, forte, and fortissimo throughout The Son. You probably needed to ask your teacher what these words meant. Or maybe you didn't — if you knew how to read Italian!

Italian is sometimes called the language that sings.__________ If not, have you heard it out loud? Many think it sounds musical. However, the link between Italian and music is deeper than that. Today, the musical vocabulary is full of Italian words.

However, it wasn't always so. Thousands of years ago, people didn't write music. Instead, they passed songs down orally and taught each other to play them on instruments. Around 1000 AD, an Italian man named Guido d'Arezzo came up with the idea of written music. Over the next few centuries, many of the people writing music were Italian. They used Italian words to describe tempo, dynamics, moods and other aspects of music.

Of course, people in other parts of the world were writing music, too. In order to standardize written music, many of them used the Italian terms. Others wrote music in their own languages. For example, Beethoven sometimes used German words instead of Italian.

Still, Italian is the primary language used in music. You might already be familiar with some terms! One example is tempo – the speed of a piece of music. Markings in written music tell the player when the music should be adagio (slow), or allegro (fast). Some pieces are even presto (very fast). These are just a few of the Italian words commonly used in music.

Oregon firefighters putting out wildfires across the state have a new "force" on their team: a plush (绒毛) Baby Yoda doll. It has become a symbol of hope and joy among the firefighters. They have been tirelessly fighting the big wildfire since early September. The fire has killed at least nine firefighters.

It all began when five-year-old Carver and his grandmother found the plush toy at home while searching for something to donate (捐赠) to Oregon firefighters.

The toy, along with a note saying, "Thank you, firefighters. Here is a friend for you if you get lonely. Love, Carver," was handed to donation site on September 12, 2020. "We were all really moved that Carver wanted to give a companion to the men and women who were risking their lives to fight the wildfires." says a volunteer Tyler Eubanks.

Eubanks took the toy to a group of firefighters working to put out the fire in Colton, Oregon. At the beginning, she planned to take a few pictures of the Baby Yoda in action for Carver, and then bring back the toy to the donation site. However, the firefighters decided to hold on to the doll and share it to lift the spirits of firefighters across the state and also those fighting fires in Colorado.

"He's been a really big encouragement," said Drake, a firefighter. "It just really meant a lot to us, and it was really emotional for a lot of people."

It's not just the firefighters that are finding comfort in the doll. "Baby Yoda Fights Fires," a Facebook page Eubanks set up to record the toy's adventures as it spreads through different people, has won over 50,000 fans, many of whom look forward to the daily updates.

"Because of all these photos, people are now seeing the human faces behind the wildfires," Eubanks said in excitement. "The attention is giving firefighters a huge encouragement, which is something that's really needed right now."

When I was a child, I always wanted to be a superhero. I wanted to (拯救)the world and then make everyone happy. But I knew that I'd need superpowers to make my (梦想)come true. So I used to take on these imaginary journeys to find intergalactic objects from (行星)Krypton, which was a lot of fun, but didn't get much result. When I grew up and (认识到)that science fiction was not a good source for superpowers, I decided instead to take on a journey of real science, to find a more (有用的)truth.

Here's some advice on how to be a good student.

Manage your time carefully. It's good to keep a habit of planning your time every day. It's very helpful to know what you will do. When you plan your week, you'd make a list of things you have to do. Then you'd make a schedule of your time for eating, sleeping, studying and even amusements. Make the best of your time. Listen to everything the teachers say in class. That means less work later. Don't forget to take notes. It will help you remember what the teacher says. Make sure to put your heart into the book, and you will get more from it.

Develop good attitudes. You'd build up friendship. Try to make more friends. And you can meet new people, find new friends and even talk to people you don't like. You never know what will happen in the future. Have a healthy diet. Try different kinds of food and get enough fruits and vegetables. If not, you won't get nutrients (营养) you need to grow each day.
