There is a parrot(鹦鹉) in a pet(宠物) shop. It is a beautiful red and blue bird. One day a man goes into the store(商店). "That's a beautiful bird," he says to the pet shop owner(所有者)," But why is it so expensive?"

"It's expensive because it can talk with people," the pet store owner says.

"I see. How can I make it talk?" the man asks.

The pet store owner asks him, "Do you see those strings(绳) on the bird 's legs?"

"Yes." the man answers.

"Well, you pull (拉) those strings," the pet store owner tells him." That will make the parrot talk."

The man asks, "Can l have a try?"

"Of course," the pet store owner says.

The man walks up and pulls the string on its left leg. The parrot says, "Good morning." The man pulls the string on the parrot's right leg. This time the parrot says, "How are you today?"

"That's not very interesting," says the man. "Any parrot can do that. "Then he laughs, "But what will happen (发生) if I pull both strings at the same time?"

"I'll fall (掉) off my seat, silly(愚蠢的) man!" the parrot says.

We can enjoy a two-day weekend every week. Maybe two days are too short, but we can try to plan the time well. Here are some ideas.

Get up early. The weekend is not only a time to sleep in. But some of us get up for lunch! That's too bad. You can have more free time, if you get up early.

Do the homework early. We have to spend much time on our homework. You can feel better if you do your homework early. You can do homework on Saturday morning. And then you can play well. I often do my homework on Saturday morning, so I don't have to worry(担心)about it on Saturdays or Sundays.

Go out for fun. Think about what you like to do. Plan a sports activity like playing football in the park. You can also visit a museum, a zoo or a park.

What is a Chinatown(唐人街)? Is it a town in China? Of course not! It is in a foreign(外国的) country. It is a place where many overseas(海外的) Chinese live together.

There are lots of Chinatowns in America. The biggest(最大的) one is in New York. There are about 150,000 people in it. It is the home of Chinese New Yorkers. And it is also a good place to go.

Shopping in Chinatown

Shopping in Chinatown is fun. You can find lots of things there. Most of them are made(制造) in China. Mott Street is the best place to shop because the things there are very cheap.

Eating in Chinatown

Chinatown has more than 200 restaurants. You can enjoy traditional (传统的) Chinese food there. New Silver Palace Restaurant is one of the best restaurants. Why don't you have breakfast with a cup of green tea in it? You can eat some Shanghai food in Evergreen Restaurant.

Living in Chinatown

Living in Chinatown is comfortable(舒适的). You can find hospitals, schools, banks, libraries and supermarkets in it. In some schools, students must study Chinese. Many overseas Chinese send their children to these schools. They want their children to learn more about China and its culture(文化).

My Perfect(完美的)Job!

You know that l am always looking for new ways to make money(赚钱) these days. Well, this time I have a great idea. Lots of my neighbors are looking for someone to help with their gardens. It's the perfect job.

Do you often wake up with a tired or weak(虚弱的) feeling(感觉)? If so, listen to Dr. Talbot and he has good ways to help you feel good.

Start exercising. If you hate feeling tired and unhappy, you should start exercising. Try running, swimming or cycling. When you exercise, your body helps to give you energy and make you feel happy. If you think exercising is not easy, listen to your favourite music and dance to it. That's exercise, too.

Keep a healthy diet. You should eat three meals every day and say goodbye to too much fast food. lf you need some more energy the whole day, make an energy drink. Mix(混合) fresh fruit juice and low-fat(低脂肪的) milk together. It tastes great.

Enjoy outside world. Get out close to the open air. The smell(味道)of flowers will make you feel happy. Even the smell of your favourite food can change your feelings! The green trees are good for your eyes.

Take a shower. When you have a shower, change the water from hot to cold and back to hot again. You'll feel it's different.

Laugh(大笑).You should laugh for three minutes every time, three times a day. It will make, you feel great!

This morning my classmates and I go to visit an old (people) home with our parents. It is quite far our, school, so we go there by bus. Forty minutes later, we get there. When(当...的时候)the old people see us, they are all very happy. We do a lot of things for them today. (one), we clean the house. It takes us the whole morning (do) the work. And then we cook and have lunch with (they) happily. After that, some students sing and dance for them. Some students funny stories to them. And chat with them. The old people smile all the time.
