My brother was four years older than me. By the time I turned four, I was upset that my brother could read but I couldn't. With a1 to read a book like my brother, I begged: "Teach me to read，Mom! Dear Kate, It's great that you're volunteering at an animal rescue center! You're already showing your love and responsibility for animals. However, I can understand why your parents don't agree to bring a dog into their home. I'm sure they've already told you that caring for a pet is a huge responsibility. One of your first jobs as a new dog owner would be to potty train it. It will take time and patience to teach your dog to do its business outside. You can research this topic and prepare a plan to show to your parents that you've given it a lot of thought and are ready. You're a student, which means that you're going to be in school most of the time. Who will take care of your dog then? Will your parents have to take on that responsibility? What's more. ________________? It will need dog food, toys — and most expensive of all -- visits to the hospital for checkups and medicine. For example, my mom's dog has seizures so he needs to take medicine and eat a special type of food. Neither of these is cheap. Most dogs need to be walked frequently. This is very time-consuming, but you must do it for your dog's physical and mental health. Another thing to think about: Dogs love to bite things. My mom's dog will gladly make a meal out of any books, paper or even wooden furniture in the house. A group of Japanese scientists from Shizuoka University have been working on a "space elevator", which will allow easy access to space.
On Sept 22nd, 2018, two tiny satellites" were sent to the International Space Station (1SS) as a test for the space elevator. The mini elevator has a 10-meter steel cable. It works as a tiny model of a full-size "space elevator"，which might reach from Earth all the way to outer space. "It's going to be the world's first experiment to test elevator in space, "the spokesman of Shizuoka University said.
According to Science Daily, the research team hopes to build the elevator by 2050. The space elevator may be able to carry up to 30 people. The trip will be about 36,000 km, which will take around eight days to complete. If it is successful, space elevators will greatly cut the cost of transporting cargo into space from $22,000 (154,000 yuan) to $200 (1,400 yuan) per kilogram. More importantly, they will produce less pollution during space travel.
Still, there are many hurdles along the way. According to the official website of the US-based Smithsonian institution, until now, researchers haven't found a material strong enough to hold the stress placed on the elevator cable. Even carbon nanotubes, the strongest material they have found so far, would break under the stress.
The challenges facing the space elevator are massive, but they have not stopped Japan from working on it. "Japanese researchers believe the idea of space elevator will be realised, since there many scientists in the fields of robotics and carbon nanotube technology in the team Michelle Z. Donahue, Smithsonian science reporter, wrote in 2016.

I can't forget that day. It was a cold snowy morning after the winter (假期). I got up early and went to a new school, which is the most famous one (在...中) middle schools in New York. Suddenly a girl who was riding her bike got into trouble. She fell down and tried hard to get up but she (失败) again. Without thinking, I went over and helped her. She said "thank you" with a smile and then rode away. Her words warmed me a lot.
Finally, I got to school. The teacher introduced me to the (全部的) class. Then he asked me to sit down beside a girl. I felt so nervous that I didn't dare to lock at her. Soon the bell (响铃) for the first class. Their textbooks were different from those in my old school. While I (考虑) asking the teacher for help, an English book appeared in front of me. "Let's share." the friendly girl next to me said. "Hi, I'm Carrie." "To my surprise, it was the girl t helped that morning. Later on, we became good friends.
