    Money is always important. It can help us live a comfortable life. Do you 1 you can have more of it?

    If you don't like to stay at home, you can go for a picnic or play some sports. In this way, you can take some fresh air and keep healthy. If you like to stay at home, you may enjoy some light music or read a few novels. You can play some indoor games such as chess, cards, and table tennis. You can also plant some trees and flowers in your garden to make your home beautiful. It is also a good way to keep a pet and talk with it. Just develop some hobbies and you will feel much happier after a long holiday.

    As a volunteer teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guangxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school, and the children there. However, my heart sank when I arrived there. It wasn't what I expected. It didn't look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms, one for Grades 1, 2 and 3, and the other for Grades 4, 5 and 6. There was a third one for me.

    The children welcomed me warmly on my first day. They asked me a lot of questions, and I told them stories about myself and my life in Beijing. The next day, I gave them a test to find out their level（水平）. To my surprise, though the test was very easy, over half of the students couldn't pass it. I knew they needed me.

    I was busy preparing lessons, reading test papers every night. I enjoyed teaching these lovely and hard-working children, and I could see that they were making progress with my help. I have also learned a lot from them. I understand their lives better, and we are now good friends.

    I have worked in Longzhou for a year now. I'm happy, and the experience has been very useful for me. I love the small village and the children. In fact, I would like to continue working here.

    Almost every Chinese person can recite(背诵) the two lines of the famous poem, "Every grain on the plate comes from hard work." But sadly, many of us don't get the real meaning of these lines: Don't waste food.

    A CCTV program reported that the food Chinese people throw away every year is enough to feed 200 million（百万）people for a year. Do we have too much food? Of course not. There were 925 million hungry people around the world in 2011. Six million children die of hunger every year.

    Chinese people are well-known for being friendly. Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten up all the food on the table. Luckily, a number of people have known the importance of saving food. What should we do in our daily life to waste less food?

    ⑴Don't order too much in a restaurant. Only order as much as you want to eat. If you cannot eat all the food you ordered, take the rest of it home.

    ⑵Don't leave any food in your bowls while having meals.

    ⑶Keep an eye on what food you have at home. Don't buy too much, especially for vegetables and fruit.

    My grandfather had a small farm. He also worked in a factory.

    One autumn, he promised to help his neighbor harvest(收获) his corn. But after harvesting his own corn, Grandpa's little machine broke down. At the same time, the factory where Grandpa worked began to require overtime(加班). He had to leave the farm early in the morning and didn't get home until after sunset. It now seemed impossible to help out his neighbor.

    One night, Grandpa decided that he wouldn't let his neighbor's harvest rot(腐烂) in the field. Without a machine, he would harvest it by hand.

    "When do you think you'll have time to do it?" asked my grandma. "Besides, it'd be too dark." "There's still one more full moon in October. If the weather is clear, I think I can do it，" he said.

    And so a few days later, after lots of busy work at the factory, my grandpa made his way to the field. The weather was cold but clear, and the moon was glowing(发光). He worked through the night to keep his word.

    Sometimes, when I want to put off responsibilities(责任), I'd see my grandfather cutting corn in the light of the harvest moon.

    I work in a cleaning company(公司). Usually people call us, and we (提供) house cleaning service.

    One day, I got a call from a man named David. "I want to help an old man. He just had surgery(手术) and is still ill. Can I pay for it without letting him know?" he asked. David was a very kind man. He called us because he was worried about his neighbor, Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith just came back from the hospital. His house was in a (杂乱), but he couldn't do any housework. Even (扫) the floor was difficult for him. He didn't tell his (孩子) because he didn't want them to spend their time taking  of(照顾) him. David wanted to help Mr. Smith without bringing him any (心理负担). And then we asked David what would happen if Mr. Smith (拒绝) to let us come into his house. "I have to at least try, and (而且), I really want to help him，" he said.

    Luckily, Mr. Smith let us in and our workers did a good job. (既然) we promised David not to tell his name, we didn't tell too much to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was touched by the gift from someone he didn't know.

    Sometimes we don't expect to (依靠)on others, because we are afraid of letting them get into trouble. However, there is always someone who cares about you and tries his best to help you.

    Lin is a very kind girl. She is always ready to help people who are  trouble. Now Lin is studying in the University of Texas. At the same time, she volunteers (teach) at Heart House in her free time. Heart House is a local after-school study program for children. It provides some extra(额外的) (educate) for children who are not doing (good) in school. Lin goes to Heart House to teach the children (two) a week. She also makes a website for Heart House. In this way, people will learn more  Heart House and better help the children there. (thank) to Lin's website, every week 125 volunteers spend two hours helping the children at Heart House now. " Lin's website, Heart House would never be able to have enough volunteers，" the program leader says. "I feel happy to teach those kids  to study. I won't give up (volunteer). I hope to continue teaching kids who need help." Lin says.
