There are many ways to greet (和……打招呼) someone. Different cultures (文化) have different greetings. In the USA, people will say "Hi!" or "How are you?". (A) In Chinese culture, older people may say "Have you eaten?" to greet others. In Bhutan, people will ask "Is your body well?"
To greet someone, people use not only words but also actions. In many countries, (B) they will often shake hands. In the USA, young people, especially young men, will often fist bump (碰拳) to greet each other. And women and men may hug (拥抱) a good friend. In Japan, a bow (鞠躬) is the polite way to greet someone. In many European countries, people often greet family and friends with a kiss (亲吻) on the cheek (脸颊).
When you travel, it's nice to know the polite way to greet others. (C) But if you don't know the right greeting, a smile (微笑) is always nice.
