Huang, 24, is a native of Maodao township in Wuzhishan county, South China's Hainan Province. Born into a family of the Li ethnic group, he was exposed to Li culture as a child, especially the ethnic brocade (织绵), which is famous for its bright, striking colors. But he had no idea how to weave it. "My parents are lifetime farmers, and no one in the family really knew much about weaving the brocade" he said.
Huang did not know much about craftsmanship until he was in high school, when local authorities organized an event to introduce intangible cultural heritage to the school campus in 2016. "I was fascinated instantly," he said. Since then, he fell in love with Li brocade and became the only boy in his home village who could weave it.
"I developed a genuine and everlasting love for the ethnic craft, but some villagers cannot understand why a man is addicted to weaving," he says. "They think it's a girl's thing." Regardless of it, Huang continued chasing after his weaving dream.
The intangible cultural heritage of Li brocade dates back to more than 3, 000 years. In line with Li tradition, the weaving techniques are only "passed on to women, not to men", as in ancient China, men were supposed to do farm work while women weaved.
In recent years, Hainan education authorities have introduced the traditional craft in local schools, so that the younger generation can understand and learn about the ethnic culture.
When Huang learned of the ancient craftsmanship in high school, he started weaving almost immediately. "I gave my first handmade brocade piece to my teacher to express my gratitude for her guidance." said Huang.
In an unusual move, wildlife workers in Florida are feeding manatees to keep them from starving. But feeding these massive sea creatures takes a lot of food. So far, the rescue workers have already given out 25 tons of lettuces. By 2025, there will be 50 tons of lettuces needed, said the rescue workers. They alsosaid the figure will rise to around 70 tons by 2030.
Manatees are huge sea mammals that only eat sea grass and other plants that live in the sea. That's one reason they're sometimes called "sea cows". They spend most of their time in warm, shallow water looking for food.
Sea grass began to disappear around 2011. Warming seas, combined with polluted water and fertilizers that have been washed off from farmlands have created huge growths of algae on the ocean's surface. The algae blocks the sunlight that allows the sea grass to grow.
The problem is especially grievous in Indian River Lagoon. About 90% of the sea grass beds in the area have died off. Last year, 1, 101 manatees died. That was a record. Most died from starvation. Many of the manatees that remain are so thin that their bones can be seen. Often they have trouble swimming. So last December, government wildlife experts came up with a plan to get emergency food to the manatees. They decided to feed them green vegetables like lettuce and cabbage.
As a feeding spot, they chose a part of the Indian River Lagoon where Florida Power & Light has a power plant. The power plant releases warm and clean water, so it's popular with the manatees.
The feeding station has been very successful. Around 350 manatees a day have come to get food. On some days, as many as 800 manatees have shown up.
The Neurosurgical Simulation (神经外科模拟) and Artificial Intelligence Learning Centre hired 70 medical students to perform virtual brain tumor removals.
Researchers randomly assigned students to receive instruction and feedback by either an AI tutor or a remote expert instructor, with a third control group receiving no instruction. An AI-powered tutor called the Virtual Operative Assistant (VOA) used a machine learning algorithm to teach safe and efficient surgical technique and provided personalized feedback, while a deep learning system and a team of experts assessed student performance. In the other group, remote instructors watched a live feed of the surgical simulations and provided feedback based on the student's performance.
The researchers found that students who received VOA instruction and feedback learned surgical skills 2. 6 times faster and achieved 36% better performance compared to those who received instruction and feedback from remote instructors. Surgical skill plays an important role in patient outcomes both during and after brain surgery. VOA may be an effective way to increase neurosurgeon performance, improving patient safety while reducing the burden on human instructors. "Artificially intelligent tutors like the VOA may become a valuable tool in the training of the next generation of neurosurgeons, " says Rolando Del Maestro, senior author of the study in JAMA Network Open. "The VOA significantly improved expertise while fostering an excellent learning environment. Ongoing studies are assessing how in-person instructors and AI-powered intelligent tutors can most effectively be used together to improve the mastery of neurosurgical skills."
"Intelligent tutoring systems can use a variety of simulation platforms to provide almost unlimited chances for repetitive practice without the constraints imposed by the availability of supervision," says Ali Fazlollahi, the study's first author. "With continued research, increased development, and dissemination (宣传) of intelligent tutoring systems, we can be better prepared for ever-evolving future challenges."
From the moment we wake up each day, we're faced with a continuous stream of choices. When there are too many options, we tend to feel overwhelmed, anxious, stressed or otherwise out of sorts. It can prevent us making additional decisions.
When decision tiredness kicks in, you may feel like you just don't have the mental band-width to deal with more decisions. This can lead to decisional paralysis or less self-control, causing you to avoid making certain choices entirely and to make ones that aren't in line with your goals or values, experts say. .
Make some choices automatic. When you go grocery shopping, use a master list that has the same staples, and buy the same brands each time. If you like having soybean milk for breakfast, stick with it on a daily basis. And if you're trying to exercise regularly, practise it every day.
. Be alert to signs of decision tiredness and act accordingly: If you've had a demanding day that was filled with lots of decisions, put off making another one. If things that wouldn't normally trouble you start bothering you, you may not be in the best state of mind to make a major decision. . But it's something to watch out for.
A. Make decision seriously B. Some easy ways to do this C. Tune into how you're feeling D. This is called decision tiredness E. We all probably suffer from decision tiredness F. Here's how to improve or manage this phenomenon G. People may not realize they're experiencing decision tiredness |

Good morning, everyone. My speech is titling "The Power of Teamwork". No matter how the age is, be able to work together will benefit us at school and work. Teamwork can save us a lot of time and energy. Additional, we can learn much from our partners by cooperating with them.
How can we cooperate effectively? In my opinions, firstly, we should try to listen others' suggestions. If they made mistakes, try to point it out in a polite way. Besides, never to force your ideas on others. Last but not least, appreciate their gifts, efforts, and sacrifices, whether big and small.
Thank you.
