Summer is the best time for traveling. When summer comes, people are wondering where to spend the holiday. Here we will introduce you some of the best destinations.
Santorini
Santorini offers a unique landscape of beaches in colors of black, red, and white, a product of their volcanic sand. Imagine swimming in the warm mythic Aegean sea, with volcano and sunsets as a backdrop. Churches are built into caves and are astonishingly beautiful.
Prince Edward Island
Canada's smallest province proves a big draw for those keen to escape modern life and all its stresses. Known for its brilliant red sand beaches, this is the perfect getaway. The food here is legendary, with the local seafood topping most menus. Cycling and skiing, hunting and fishing, it's all about the great outdoors here. With so much to do, it's no surprise that visitors return to Prince Edward Island again and again.
Grand Cayman
Hit the shops in George Town, the capital, where all the best designer brands can be found. You'll be spoilt (宠坏的) for choice although the crescent-shaped Seven Mile Beach is the most obvious destination. Head out on the water, where coral reefs await. Great food, great weather and great tourist attractions for all, what's not to like about gorgeous Grand Cayman?
Lofoten Island
This is a wilderness unequalled in its beauty, where giant sea eagles soar. Visitors are drawn to the islands to experience the Northern Lights and Midnight Sun at close quarters and for those keen to get back to nature and escape the beaten track, there can be nowhere better. For a real treat, we recommend kayaking between islands before finding a nice quiet restaurant and enjoying the fresh ingredients;
I was a recent graduate of a leading business school and I was to join a big company in Gomia, Bihar. The company chose only the best, and I was full of it.
The night train from Calcutta would reach Gomia in the morning. I had a letter that said there would be a car to pick me up from the station and take me to the Guest House. However, I found no person in sight to receive me when I got off the train. I felt let down. I carried the luggage on my shoulder and came to the exit. There I saw a nice car. The driver was walking towards the car. Ah, my driver, there he was!
I went up to him and asked him to carry my luggage. He asked me who I was and I introduced myself. The driver opened the back door and had me seated. Along the way, he asked me some questions about me and my family. I was angry with the driver who asked too much and answered him in monosyllables (只言片语). After reaching the Guest House, we said goodbye.
The next day was a big day. I was to meet the boss of the place, Dr. S. K. Kamat, and I was nervous. I knocked on the door and walked into the large office. The big man had his back to me and as he turned, I recognized the man immediately. He was the driver!
He gave me a broad smile and said he was S. K. Kamat. I could have died at that moment. I apologized for my behavior and was at a loss for words. He said that he had come to the station to see off a friend. And he had seen me and wanted to be of assistance. He never referred to the incident almost as if it didn't happen. When I walked out of the office, I learned a great lesson.
Do you get nervous thinking about a coming math test? If yes, you are far from alone. Math anxiety has become a common condition among students around the world. Students in countries with higher levels of math anxiety tend to achieve lower math grades, according to a study published by the National Academy of Sciences on Feb 15.
Math anxiety-a negative emotional reaction to the core subject-causes fear, physical suffering and behavior problems among young pupils, according to a University of Cambridge study. Some people also experience physical symptoms such as sweaty palms or a racing heart. They may then try to avoid every situation involving numbers, meaning they are held back from pursuing careers related to this subject, such as technology or engineering, according to The Guardian.
Relief comes from the fact that those with math anxiety aren't destined (注定的) to be bad at math. "If a child has math anxiety, don't assume that they're not good at math. They may have had a really bad experience with math and there are ways to improve math achievement," Daniel Ansari, the senior author of the study told The London Free Press.
Also, there are ways to manage your stress related to math. If you're feeling stressed before a math exam, it may help to spend a few minutes exploring those feelings before the exam begins. "It's about making sure you're interpreting your feelings correctly, "Sian Beilock, a cognitive (认知的) scientist told the BBC. "Just because you have a fast heartbeat and sweaty palms, that does not necessarily mean you will fail."
Math doesn't come easy, no matter how clever you are. Leonardo da Vinci, the famous Italian artist, was a huge fan of mathematics. But his notebooks show that Da Vinci couldn't do fractions (分数). He could never grasp, for instance, that dividing a number by one-quarter is the same as multiplying by four, resulting in a higher number than the original.
Listen carefully. Don't answer too quickly. At least, don't say "yes" too soon. A friend might ask, "Want to take a hike?" You should say, "Where?" If he replies "The entire Appalachian Trail (阿巴拉契亚国家步道)", take warning. Here's why.
The trail is one of the longest marked footpaths in the world. It starts at Springer Mountain, Georgia. It winds along the top of the mountains. It goes through 14 states. It ends at Mount Katahdin, Maine. As the crow (乌鸦) flies, this is about 2, 200 miles. But when walked, the trail is 2, 600 miles. If you walk nonstop, it takes about six months to walk through the trail.
Most hikers begin from Springer Mountain. They start around April 1. This is why. The snow has probably melted in the south. But there may still be snow in the north. By the time they reach Maine, the snow will have been long gone. What's the chance of making it nonstop? Here is the data. About 1, 500 people try it each year. About 300 people make it. It is a great challenge indeed.
Careful planning is necessary. There are problems to solve. The biggest one is the weight on one's back. Too many hikers start out with too much. Wise ones don't carry food. They send packages to post offices along the way. There are no campfires allowed. Some shelters are near the path. But the trail is crowded. It is hard to find space. A perfect tent is necessary. And it rains a lot. Great rain gear is needed. It should be light.
Benton MacKaye founded the trail. The first section of the trail was opened in 1923. It is cared for by volunteers in each state. Do you plan to go? Read lots of books by people who've done it.
How to deal with your homework
Write it down. Always be sure to write down all the homework so you won't forget anything.
Create a homework station. Find somewhere comfortable and quiet to do your home work. It will take twice as long to get the homework done. Shut off your cell phone, log off (退出) your computer (unless you need it for your homework) and close the door.
Do homework as early as possible. Don't leave homework to the last minute. The earlier you start your homework, the sooner you will finish! Do all your homework as early as you can, so you don't have a pile of (一堆) homework the next day.
Think about how long it will take you to complete homework for each subject. For example:English-ten minutes, science-ten minutes, math-forty minutes, history-twenty minutes.
Treat yourself. You can easily get tired by sitting through an hour or two of homework without stopping. Once you finish homework for a subject, take a small break (no more than 15 minutes). Either taking a walk or finding something to eat will do. But do not turn on the TV, or you'll never go back to your study.
A. Use your time wisely.
B. Start as soon as you get home.
C. Start with your hardest homework.
D. Do not burn the midnight oil, either.
E. Never do your homework in front of the TV.
F. After short breaks, return to finish the rest of your homework.
G. Keep a homework notebook where you record all your homework.

October 12th was big day for my team and me. We take part in a basketball tournament for senior students in Lancaster County. Some players were absent because he had to take exams. What's worse, there was no substitute. The team what we played against was last year's top one. As a striker, I played hardly. Later, I had little energy than before and got injured because of I fell down. During the pause, the coach told us to "play with effort but wisdom". Then, I saved my strength and looked for good chances to scoring more goals. Finally, I scored another four point and was named the "most valuable player".
