On a freezing Afternoon, when I picked up a wallet in the street. There was no identification(身份证) inside. Just three dollars, and an old letter that looked as if it had been carried around for years. I opened the letter and saw that it had been written in 1924——almost 60 years ago. I read it carefully, hoping to find some clue to find the wallet's owner.
It was a "Dear John" letter. The writer, in a delicate script(娟秀的字迹), told her lover, whose name was Michael, that her mother did not allow her to see him again. It was signed Hannah and her phone number. So I called.
"No, of course! We bought this house from Hannah thirty years ago. Hannah had to live in the nursing home(养老院) many years ago. Maybe you can go there. "
Then I phoned the nursing home and was told, "Yes, Hannah is with us. Hannah was a sweet, silver-haired old-woman with a warm smile and friendly eyes. "
I went up to the third floor of the nursing home. I showed her the wallet and the letter. The moment she saw it, she took a deep breath. "Young man, " she said, "this letter was the last contact I had with Michael. " She then said deeply: "I loved him very much. But I was only sixteen and my mother felt I was too young. "Michael? Michael? It's you!" He walked slowly and they embraced(拥抱) tearfully. A perfect ending for a love affair that had lasted nearly 60 years.
One day, a small opening appeared on a cocoon(蚕茧); a man sat and watched for the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole. Then, it seemed to make no progress. It appeared as if it had never come out.
So the man decided to help the butterfly, he took a pair of scissors and opened the cocoon. The butterfly then came out and emerged easily. But it had a witheredand weak body, it just had tiny and shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would open, enlarge and expand, to be able to support the butterfly's body, and become firm and flew high in the sky. However，Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a withered body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.
What the man, in his kindness and his goodwill did not understand was that the restricting cocoon hole and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening, were God's will of forcing fluid (液体)from the body of the butterfly into its wings, so that it would be ready for flight
Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were allowed to go through our life without any obstacles, it would destroy and ruin us. We would not be as strong as we could have been. We never been able to fly. That is why when I asked for strength. God gave me difficulties to make me strong. when I asked for Courage, God gave me obstacles to overcome.
The rain was raining hard. Many sicko(神经病)patients finally were unbearable, rushing into the rain and shouting: Come and take a shower now... come and take a bath now. .

When a leafy plant is under attack，it doesn't sit quietly. Back in 1983, two scientists, Jack Schultz and Ian Baldwin, reported that young maple trees getting bitten by insects send out a particular smell that neighboring plants can get. These chemicals come from the injured parts of the plant and seem to be an alarm. What the plants pump through the air is a mixture of chemicals known as volatile organic compounds, VOCs for short.
Scientists have found that all kinds of plants give out VOCs when being attacked. It's a plant's way of crying out. But is anyone listening? Apparently. Because we can watch the neighbors react.
Some plants pump out smelly chemicals to keep insects away. But others do double duty. They pump out perfumes designed to attract different insects who are natural enemies to the attackers. Once they arrive, the tables are turned. The attacker who was lunching now becomes lunch.
In study after study, it appears that these chemical conversations help the neighbors. The damage is usually more serious on the first plant, but the neighbors, relatively speaking, stay safer because they heard the alarm and knew what to do.
Does this mean that plants talk to each other? Scientists don't know. Maybe the first plant just made a cry of pain or was sending a message to its own branches, and so, in effect, was talking to itself. Perhaps the neighbors just happened to "overhear" the cry. So information was exchanged, but it wasn't a true, intentional back and forth.
