At Sandringham I got to know this kid, Teddy, a funny guy. He is one of those friends with whom you start hanging out and from that day forward you're never apart. We were both very naughty. When you put us together, it was a disaster. Walking home from school, we'd throw rocks through windows, just to see them broken, and then we'd run away.

One Saturday night, we were at the shopping center and most of the shops were closed. The cinema was still showing movies and the building was still open. There was a shop that sold greeting cards and magazines and it didn't have a door. So when it closed at night, there was only a metal gate, like a trellis (架子), which was pulled across the entrance and padlocked (用挂锁锁上). Walking past this shop. Teddy and I realized that if we put our arms through the trellis, we could reach the chocolates just inside. We reached in, took a few, and then swallowed the chocolates. We started going back again and again to steal more.

We did this every weekend for at least a month. Then we pushed our luck too far. It was a Saturday night. I reached in to take a chocolate, and at that exact moment a security guard came around the corner and saw me with my arm in up to my shoulder. I brought my hand out with a bunch of chocolates in it. I saw him. He saw me. His eyes went wide.

After a few minutes, the father asked his son for the second time, "What is this?"The son said, "Father, I have just now told you, it's a crow!"

After a little while, the old father again asked his son for the third time, "What is this?"

At this time some expression of irritation was felt in the son's tone when he said to his father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow. "A little while later, the father again asked his son the fourth time, "What is this?"

This time, the son shouted at his father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times' IT IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his son was born. On opening a page, he asked his son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary:

That night, I quarreled with my mother, and then stormed out of the house. While on the road, I remembered that I did not have any money in my pocket, I did not even take my cell phone with me to make a call home.

At the same time, I went through a noodle shop, and I suddenly felt very hungry. I wished for a bowl of noodles, but I had no money!

The seller saw me standing before the counter and asked, "Hey little girl, you want to eat a bowl?" "But …but I do not carry money …" I shyly replied.

"Okay, I'll treat you." the seller said, "come in, I will cook you a bowl."

A few minutes later the owner brought me a steaming bowl of noodles. After eating some pieces, I cried.

    "What is it?" He asked.

"Nothing. I am just touched by your kindness!" I said as I wiped my tears. "Even a stranger on the street gives me a bowl of noodles, and my mother, after a quarrel, chased me out of the house. She is cruel (残忍的)!"

The seller sighed, "Girl, why did you think so? Think again. I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you felt that way. Your mother has been taking care of you since you were little, why were you not grateful and why did you hurt your mom? You should say sorry to your mom."

I was really surprised after hearing that.

Why did I not think of that? A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel grateful, and my mother has raised me since I was little and I have never felt so, not even a little.

A man in Fairhope reunited with a special photo of his late wife that was blown away in the strong winds of Hurricane Sally, all thanks to the help of strangers, Kimberly and Bjarke, on social media.

Scott said on Facebook the photo of his late wife, Amy, was usually on the dashboard of his Jeep. The photo was taken in April 2017, after Amy described it as "her first night home from the hospital".

"In fact, we all knew her brain cancer had progressed," he wrote. "The photo has sat in the same spot on the dashboard of her Jeep, now my Jeep for three years now."

Three years ago, Amy lost her battle with brain cancer. And the photo was so meaningful for Scott. But when Scott and his daughter were traveling to Point Clear on Sept. 16 to check on Amy's grave after Hurricane Sally went through the region, he said the photo was swept out of his Jeep by winds.

"We stopped to get out and check and as soon as I opened the door a wind came through; because my little girl's window was down, the photo took off," he added.

Scott said he thought the photo was gone forever, because he thought the strong wind and heavy storm would do damage to everything, until that Monday, Sept 20, when he spotted a post on the "What's Happening in Fairhope" Facebook group.

It was already hot and wet on a July morning. I enjoyed a couple of hours of peace and quiet before my teenagers awoke. With a second cup of coffee steaming in front of me, I planned my day: take out some cash at the bank, and maybe go to the mall to shop for a new pair of sneakers.

Sometime around noon I grabbed my purse, said goodbye to the kids and headed for my car. The bank was two miles from the house. I stopped my car in front of the ATM machine, and jumped out of the car with the engine running and the air conditioner on.

Trade completed, I came back to the car and pulled on the door handle. If ever I had an uh-oh worst moment, it was then. The door was locked.

The sun was beating down on me while I stood frustrated, wondering what to do. I didn't enjoy the thought of a two-mile hike back to the house to get the spare set of keys.

I entered the bank and took a deep breath of cool air before approaching a teller window. The young woman who greeted me listened sympathetically (同情地)as I told her my problem. When I asked if I could make a call, she cheerfully responded by showing me a telephone.

"Hello, Fawn." I said when my daughter answered.  "I locked my keys in the car at the bank, and the engine is running. Can you go next door and ask Eddie if he would bring me the spare set, please?"

Fawn came back on the line a few minutes later. The news wasn't good—Eddie was out. I hung up and told my dilemma to the teller.

"You're Fawn's mother?," she asked, sounding a bit apologetic for listening in on my conversation.

    "Yes. I am."

Her face lit up. "I'm Carmen. Fawn and I often work together in the church nursery. She's a wonderful person. I just love her a lot. You must be a great mom."

We live in central Phoenix , near the canal. Every day I used to see a homeless old man and his shabby and untidy dog hanging out down there.

I would tell my husband we should give him food for the little dog. It wouldn't have been a problem; we have our own "mini farm" of animals! But he would say "OK!" and then blow the idea off because of our business.

Being in Phoenix, Arizona, you can just imagine how hot it gets here, but its winter was really chilly! I had just come from KFC with take-out food for dinner. As I was turning by the canal, the man was sitting on a long bench , wrapping himself with an old brown coat and even older scarf. Even the dog had a worn-out woolen vest on!

Not even thinking more about it, I pulled into the parking lot along the canal and piled up a plate of chicken for the man and his little dog as well as a cup of hot coffee and a bottle of juice. Looking at all the hot and delicious food and drink, he said, "Thank you, sweetie. You are an angel. "I found tears welling up in his eyes! I told him he was so welcome, and then went home.

When my husband dug into the KFC bag, he asked, "Were you hungry or what happened?"1 told him what I did and he told me I had done a good thing. Since there had been nothing left in the KFC bag, we decided to go out to have our dinner. By the time we wanted to pay our bill, l couldn't find my wallet. I really didn't know where l lost it. Luckily, there was not much money in it, and I forgot it at once.

"Tom! Here!" said a father to his boy. The boy was at play. He looked toward his father, but did not want to leave his friends. With an unhappy face, the boy got close to his parent.

"Why do you walk so slowly?" said the father  angrily. "Come quickly! Take this note to Mr. Smith. Now run as fast as you can."

The boy took the note but he moved away slowly.

"You, Tom! Run!" called the father. "If you are not back in half an hour, I will punish you."

But the words had little effect. The boy's feelings were hurt by the unkindness of the parent.

"I never saw such a boy," said the father, speaking to a friend. "My words make no difference to him."

"Kind words often prove most powerful," said the friend. "Kind words are like the gentle rain. They develop and strengthen good feelings. Try a few kind words."

An hour passed, but his boy wasn't back. The father felt very angry with the child.

Billy was 15 years old then. He grew up in a very poor neighborhood. No one in his family had gone to college before. Actually, few people around him had received higher education. They all struggled to live a good life. Therefore, Billy knew nothing about colleges or scholarships and he never thought he would go to college one day. Although he was a smart boy, he didn't study hard al school and often got into trouble with other teenagers in his neighborhood.

One day, while Billy was walking on the playground, a boy of his age started making fun of him. Then that boy pushed him hard and Billy fell onto the ground. Billy became so angry that he stood up and beat that boy. So a fight began.

It happened that Billy's English teacher Mr. Smith was walking nearby. He immediately ran to the boys to stop the fight. Billy was a bit worried because he knew his teacher was very strict with students. He was afraid his teacher would punish him. However, to his astonishment, his teacher didn't do that.

"Billy, let's have a talk," said his teacher.

Billy, not knowing what his teacher wanted to do, was very worried. But he nodded. So they went to a bench nearby and sat down. After they sat down, Mr. Smith began, "Billy, I know you're a smart boy, but you're wasting your life now. Why don't you study hard to go to college so that you can change your life and have a bright future?"

Hearing that, Billy didn't know what to say. He had never thought about it. Billy was in silence. Mr. Smith continued, "I know you may have never thought about going to college. But everything is possible. When I was at your age, I was a troublemaker just like you and never thought I'd be able to go to college, either. It was all because of the support and encouragement of Mr. Howard, my math teacher in high school."
