    Dear Micheal,

How's your vacation? I'm visiting my uncle in Spain. He lives in the sunny and beautiful city of Valencia in Spain.

Yesterday, I had great fun. My uncle took me to the tomato festival in Bunol, which is just 30miles away from where my uncle lives. You have probably never heard of this festival before.Neither had I. The tomato festival is called"La Tomatina"in Spanish. It was the biggest and messiest tomat o fight in the world. When we first got to the square where the festival took place,it was very crowded with people from all around the world, and many trucks were carrying tomatoes. My uncle told me the crowded people here were around 38,000 and this was more than four times the population of Bunol.

The tomato fight started as soon as the first banger was beaten. Then everyone including me started throwing tomatoes at each other. I took red tomatoes and threw them at anyone that ran,moved, bent down, or turned around. Tomatoes must be squashed (压软)before people threw them in order not to hurt anybody. After a little while, the streets, people and nearby buildings were splashed(泼洒)with red. There was no winner in this fight, but we all had fun. As soon as a second banger was beaten, people stopped throwing.

I really had a great time. I wish you were here, too. I hope I hear from you soon. Take care.

    With love,

I'm Jane from America. I could not sleep well and I always woke up several times during the night. I know for a fact that there are many other people who have trouble going to sleep, too. So,I've collected some advice I've received over the past few months that have not only helped me get to sleep faster, but helped me get a better night's sleep.

Go to bed at the same time every night. Try not to break this habit on weekends when you plan to stay up late. Wake up at the same time every day. If you're getting enough sleep,you should wake up naturally without an alarm.

Turn off your computer. Don't play on the computer for half an hour before you decide to sleep. Studies show that it is bad for the quality of your sleep. Read a book or listen to some light music.

Have a nice bedroom. Make sure that you have turned off all lights that might shine into your bedroom, and that the temperature is comfortable.

Eat properly. A full stomach may make it much harder for you to sleep.

    A. Clean environment helps people to be happy and relaxed.

    B. Have regular sleep habits.

    C. Don't eat too much for supper.

    D. It can help you to prepare your body for sleeping.

Students at a primary school in Fuzhou are asked to clean the school toilets. It helps 1  to develop good habits. But some parents are 2  against the idea. They can't see the advantages of students doing such chores. They think that the school should help students to focus on their study, not offer the 3  to be school cleaners.

In fact, parents, schools and society play an important role in forming the character of students. It is good to give students such tasks, because 4  of the students will do them at home. Their parents want them to do homework only.

In recent years, some parents are always worrying about lots of things when students are 5 to do some chores in schools. Some ask what if their kids get hurt in schools, others even challenge the schools' teaching methods and management. 6 , many primary schools in big cities do not let students 7 in outdoor activities during breaks, fearing that they might get into trouble. This is bad for students'8 .

Some experts say we should learn something from what the primary school in Lanzhou is doing. Doing chores can make students 9 more meaningful things in schools. 三、语篇填空(共 10 小题,每小题1分;满分 10分)
  • 7.  阅读短文,在空白处填入一个适当的单词或用括号内所给词的正确形式填空,使短文通顺、连贯。

Teenage Life—Better N ow, or in the Past?

    Does this situation sound familiar(熟悉的)?

You are (complain)to your parents about something. Maybe your computer isn't powerful enough to play the latest games. Or your friends' bikes are better yours. Then you hear...

"When I was your age, there weren't any (computer)or video games. And I didn't get a bike I was sixteen. And it was second hand. And it was too big for (I)."

So is it really true that life is better for teenagers now? It is certainly true that many teenagers have got more things nowadays. A typical family is smaller now. So parents have (get)more money to spend on each child. And many things are cheaper than they were when our parents were children.

Technology is probably the greatest change in our life. Forty years ago, no one can  (imagine)a world with tiny computers and amazing smart phones. And now these things are necessary——we can't imagine living without them!

However, technology often means we spend more time at home. And often it's just us, with our computers or televisions. Teenagers don't do enough (exercise). So they aren't as healthy as the teenagers were in the past. And although young people still get on (good)with their friends, some people think teenagers today don't have so many social activities they did in the past.

What do you think? Is teenage life better these days?
