Last weekend, Jimmy and Paul went camping on the mountain. It was really exciting (令人激动的) and they had a good time. On Saturday morning, they got there early and then they went for a walk. There was a 1 at the foot of the mountain, so they went fishing (钓鱼) there and then cooked 2 they caught outside the tent in the afternoon.
After dinner, they talked for an hour and then they went to sleep. At night, Jimmy had a(n) 3 and it was very strange. He heard someone 4 "Hello! Hello!" Then he looked out of the tent and saw a strange creature (生物).
It was 5 and very small. It asked Jimmy and Paul to go to its spaceship (宇宙飞船). There they met other strange creatures. They 6 at a table and ate some strange food. Jimmy drank a cup of juice. It tasted like apple juice and he asked for7 cup of it. After that Jimmy felt a little 8 . Oh, dear! He turned green and small 9 the strange creatures.
"No! It's not true," Jimmy shouted to Paul and wanted to run away. But when he opened his 10 , he found it was only a dream.
One day in class, the teacher held up an apple, stood at the front of the class and said, "Please smell the smell in the air!"
One student put up his hand and said, "I can smell it. It is the smell of an apple. "
The teacher passed by each of the students and said, "Smell again to see if the smell of the apple is still in the air. "
Half of the students raised their hands to show that they could smell it. The teacher went back to the front of the classroom and asked again if the students could smell the apple.
Everyone raised their hand except one little girl. The teacher came to the girl and asked, "You really can't smell the apple?"
The girl answered, "No, I can't smell it. I don't think it's a real apple. "
The teacher smiled at the girl and said to the class, "She is right! This is not a real apple. "
All of the other students' eyes were wide open. They also might have thought that the apple was not real, but they didn't have the self-confidence (自信) to speak up. They just followed the first student.
Many people go to Qatar (卡塔尔) to take a trip because of the 2022 World Cup. Here are some rules (规则) you need to follow when you have a trip in Qatar.
First of all, don't eat pork in Qatar. Most people in Qatar are Muslims (穆斯林). They don't eat pork. Second, don't wear T-shirts or short skirts when you go out. It's not polite 礼貌的) in Qatar. The last rule is about taking photos. When you take photos of others, you have to ask for permission. When they say "yes", you can take photos of them.
The rules may be strict (严格的) for you, but remember the rules are the rules. You must follow them.
Hi, friends! My name is Sandra and I live in an old town. My town is not big. It covers an area of 14,000 square meters and there are only 1,000 people living there. It often rains. The rainy season starts from March and lasts for seven months.
There is a square in the town center. It's called Market Square because there is a market there every morning. I always go there with my grandmother on Saturday mornings. Every May, there is a rock music festival in Market Square. It's very exciting. At the end of the square there is a museum. Every Friday, there is an exhibition (展览) in it. We can see old photos of the town and learn a lot about it at the exhibition. Opposite (在……对面) the museum is a theater called Happy Hole and it is just in front of my community.
My community is quiet and tidy. There is a swimming pool in our community. My home is a townhouse (联排房屋) with three floors. On the first floor, there is a kitchen, a bathroom, a toy room and a dining hall. My parents' room, my room, a guest room and a large living room are on the second floor. I really like the living room because we can see the pool from our window. Also, there is a comfortable sofa. In front of the sofa, there is a coffee table and some flowers are on it. The top floor is an open-air balcony (露天阳台). We always hold parties and have fun there.
East or west, home is the best. For me, my home is the warmest place and I love it so much.
Just think that one day your poop (粪便) might help build greener homes. Surprised? Scientists are working on it! Today we use bricks to build houses. But when making bricks, lots of carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) comes out and pollutes the environment. Scientists found that adding poop to bricks could cut down the pollution. Using poop is good in other ways as well.
Greener and cleaner
Every year, lots of human waste is turned into sludge (污泥). The sludge is rich in silicon(硅), aluminum (铝) and calcium (钙). These things can make bricks. Scientists at the University of Technology Sydney in Australia tried to add different amounts of sludge to bricks. Too much sludge would make the bricks too soft. But mixing 15 percent sludge can make the brick strong enough. And this can cut carbon dioxide emissions (排放) by 13 percent. Another good thing is that the germs (病菌) in the poop stay in the bricks. They won't pollute the land and rivers.
More water-resistant
In some villages in India, people mix cow dung (粪便) and mud to make their homes water-resistant (防水的). Scientists at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands studied this. They found that the dung is rich in fatty acids (脂肪酸). It can stop water from passing through. Based on their study, the team made new kinds of bricks with cow dung. They were 30 times better than today's bricks in water-resistance tests. They believe that human poop could do this, too!

Dear Julie,
How is everything going? I'd like to tell you something that in my new school last week.
On a Monday afternoon, I played football with other boys. A tall boy with big eyes walked to us and kicked our ball over the fence (把……·踢过围栏). He said, "If you want your ball, go and get ! Ha ha!"
"He's Billy. Stay away from him. He is bad," said Mike, one of the .
The next day, I Billy again in the dining hall. I asked him, "Why did you kick our ball?" " it was fun! Ha ha!" he said.
That night, I talked about Billy with my dad. "Maybe he is not really a bad boy. He just needs some ," dad said.
The next day, I had a plan. "Billy, do you want to play football with us? I know you're at it, I asked. Billy said nothing. "Come on! I hurt (使受伤) leg. They need one more . "I said.
Finally, Billy played with the boys. That day, he had fun, and he was not a bad boy any more.
Yours,
Tony
