It is Sunday afternoon. Mary goes shopping with her mother. Her mother wants to buy some food for supper. Mary wants to buy a T-shirt and some school things. They come to a shop.
"What does your shop sell?" Mary asks. "A lot of things," the girl in the shop says. "You can buy food, drinks, clothes and school things in our shop."
Mary and her mother go into the shop. There are many people in the shop. Mary finds a nice white T-shirt.
"How much is the T-shirt?" Mary asks the girl in the shop.
"It's eighty yuan."
"That's too dear. Do you have a cheap one?"
"What about the green one? It looks nice. And it's only thirty yuan."
"OK, thanks a lot." "You are welcome."
After that, Mary buys some school things too. Her mother buys a lot of food, like bread, cakes, meat and fish. They get home very late.
Mike likes music very much. 1 he was young, he wanted 2 be a famous musician. But now he is a 3. He works in a hospital. He 4 plays light music when he is working. He finds 5 patients are happy if they 6 the beautiful music. So he puts a CD player 7 the waiting room（候诊室） and plays the 8 to his patients every 9. All his patients 10 Mike is a good doctor.
A shopkeeper(店主)closes his shop in the 1 and goes home. He is very 2, so he doesn't 3 supper and goes to bed at once. At that time the telephone rings. A man says,"4do you open your door, sir?" The shopkeeper is unhappy. He thinks the man plays a joke on(开玩笑)him. He does not answer it and goes 5 to bed.
A few minutes later the telephone6again. He7and goes to pick up the phone and finds that voice(声音)is the 8 man and he asks the same question. The shopkeeper answers angrily." You needn't ask me that because I can't let you9my shop. It's late now."
"No. I want to go out." the man says" My wife is waiting for (等候)me at home for10now."
A poor traveler arrived at a small village. He has no food or money. He only bad a cooking pot. He made a small cooking fire, placed his pot on it, and poured in some water. When a few villagers asked 1 he was doing, he said that he was making stone soup which was a recipe passed down from his father. He then dropped a round stone into the pot.
Then the traveler told the villagers stories of his travels and the 2 things he'd seen. He 3 his soup and said it was nice, but a bit of salt would be better. One villager went home and came back with some 4 for the soup.
A few more villagers stopped to see what was going on when they heard the traveler speaking. The traveler told 5 stories and said that some carrots or onions would be nice to the 6 soup. So another villager said he could give a few carrots and brought them from his home.
This continued with the traveler asking for onions, 7 meat, celery, potatoes to the soup.
Finally, the soup was OK and everyone enjoyed the tasty meal.
