Chinese Traditional Festivals
Spring Festival
Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. It is always in January or February. The weather is cold and snowy in most places. People will enjoy a long holiday with their families. They buy new clothes and eat special food, make their houses beautiful, visit their relatives (亲戚) and give money in red packets to the children.
Lantern Festival(元宵节)
It is always in February or March. It comes after the Spring Festival. People often eat sweet dumplings on that day. After that, they will watch the lantern show (灯会) for good wishes.
Qingming Festival
It is on April 4th or 5th. It is a time to remember the dead and the dear departed. People always go and sweep the graves (扫墓).
Dragon Boat Festival
It is usually in June. People on that day will make many zongzi. They eat and throw them into the rivers to remind Qu Yuan. People will have a dragon boat race and drink realgar wine (雄黄酒) too.
Mid-Autumn Day
It is always in September or October. It is a time for families to be together, so people far from home will enjoy the moon and miss their families. They like to share mooncakes around the table at night.

B. Our School Trip WHEN: May 20th, 9 a.m. WHERE: Shanghai WHAT: We will have a wonderful day in Shanghai. In the morning we'll go to Nanjing Road. It is in the center of Shanghai We will have lunch there. After lunch, we'll go to the Oriental Pearl Tower (东方明珠塔). You can enjoy the whole Shanghai.
