From Monday to Friday, the Chens are very busy.
Mr. Chen is an engineer in a company. He works from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Mrs. Chen works in a library in a town. She drives her car to work. On the way to work, she leaves her little son with a baby—sitter. Her daughter goes to school on a school bus. She gets home at 4:30 pm.
At 4:00, Mrs. Chen comes home from work with her son.
The Chens usually eat dinner at 8:00 pm. After dinner, the girl does her homework and Mrs. Chen washes the dishes. Mr. Chen sometimes works at home. 10:30 pm is bedtime for the Chens.
Mr Wang is from Tonghua. He is on holiday in the USA now. He wants to buy something for his wife and daughter. His American friend, John, goes with him to War-Mart, a big supermarket.
Mr Wang: How much is the skirt? I can't see the price.
John: It's here, 49 dollars.
Mr Wang: 49 dollars? How much is that in RMB? Let me see... It's about 400 yuan! It's too expensive (贵的)!
John: Do you think so?
Mr Wang: Yes, of course. OK. Forget it. How much is the handbag?
John: Look! It's 98 dollars.
Mr Wang: No, no. It's too expensive, too. How much is the chocolate?
John: Let me have a look. It's 2 dollars 99 cents.
Mr Wang: For a big box of chocolate? That's cheap. OK, I'll take 4 boxes of chocolate.
There are 46 children in our class. 17 of us live near the school and they come to school on foot. 13 children come to school by bus.12 children come to school by car. Their parents drive them to school. Four children take the subway to school. They have to walk too, because the subway station is five minutes away from the school.
I go to school by bus. The buses are always crowded, and I seldom (很少) have a seat. Usually I stand all the way to school and back home. The bus drivers know me, because I take their buses every day.
The Dead Sea is not a sea. It is a big lake in the Jordan Valley. The weather is hot there and the water is salty. Fish can not live in the salty water and plants can not grow near it. People can not swim well in the Dead Sea, but they can float on the water. You can often see people floating on the lake, reading books or newspapers. The water is very blue and the air is clean.
Little Justin was born in the river. It is spring . He is small and black . He looks around. He can not find his mum .
Justin :Mum , where are you ?
Soon he has a round head and a long tail . He meets a fish in the river . She also has a round head and a long tail .
Justin :Mum ?
Fish :No . I'm not your mum . Your mum has four legs . She's green and she has no tail.
Later, Little Justin has four legs . He is green . He meets a turtle .
Justin :Are you my mum ?
Turtle :No, I'm not your mum . Your mum has a big mouth . She can catch flies .
Kitty：What did you have for breakfast，Joe?
Joe：I had some noodles for breakfast．What about you，Kitty?
Kitty：I had a sandwich and a glass of milk for breakfast．
Joe：What did you have for lunch yesterday，Kitty?
Kitty：I had a salad for lunch．What about you，Joe?
Joe：I had a hamburger and some chips for lunch．What did you have for dinner yesterday，Kitty?
Kitty：I had some pizza and fruit for dinner．

When Ruby was a baby, she was very cute. She had short hair and big blue eyes. She was in a pink baby clothes. She could crawl (爬) along the floor. She could play with blocks. She liked to lie on the floor with her mum. She could put the blocks on top of each other. She could sit in a high chair and eat from a spoon. She could eat soft food like potato, pumpkin, yoghurt and banana.
Now Ruby is ten years old. She has long black hair. She likes eating beef and vegetables. She can do more things. She can read, write, draw and count. She can play the piano. She sometimes goes to the music hall to enjoy the concerts. She is growing up.
