Ali and his younger sister, Zahra, lived with their parents in a poor neighborhood. Their mother was very sick and their father was struggling to find a job, and they had only a little money with which to buy food. As they had not paid the rent for several months, the landlord was breathing down their necks.

One day, Ali took Zahra's shoes to a shoe repairman to be fixed, but he lost them on the way home. It wasn't until he got home that he realized he had lost the shoes. He was afraid that his parents would be angry and disappointed, so he begged his sister to keep it secret. Zahra agreed and the two decided to share Ali's running shoes. Zahra's school hours were in the morning, so she would wear them first. After school, she would rush back and give them to Ali. He could then run to his school, which began in the afternoon. Although he ran as fast as he could, Ali often arrived late and was warned by the school.

Ali heard about a long distance race that was held for the boys in the city. When he learned that the third prize was a new pair of shoes, he decided to take part. He ran home excitedly and promised his sister that he would win her the new shoes. The day of race arrived. Ali had a strong start, but halfway through the race he began to get tired and his legs began to ache. Getting more and more exhausted he thought only of Zahra and his promise to her. Dreaming of the new shoes he would win for his sister gave him strength, and he stayed right behind the two fastest runners, determined to finish third. Suddenly, as the finish line drew near, another runner collided (碰撞) with Ali from behind and he crashed to the ground.

One sunny day, I drove to the airport and was waiting to pick up a friend. That day I had one of those experiences that change people's lives.

It happened just two feet away from me. I was sitting on a bench and looked around the big waiting hall. Just then I noticed a man, carrying two bags, coming toward me. He stopped next to me. There stood his family, the wife and three lovely kids. He greeted them, with a big smile on his face.

First of all, he laid down his bag and came closer to his younger son(about six years old). They gave each other a warm, loving hug. Then the father looked in his son's eyes with words, "I missed you so much. It's so good to see you, Son!" The boy smiled and said, "Me too, Dad."

Then the man talked to his older son(nine or ten years old)."Oh, you are quite the young man. I love you very much!" and cupped his face. Then they had the most tender hug too.

Afterwards the father said, "Hi, baby girl" to his baby daughter. She was moving excitedly in her mother's arm and watching her returning father all the time. The man gently took his little daughter, quickly kissed her face all over and then held her close to his chest. The little girl laid her head on his shoulder in pure contentment.

After several moments, the man put down the baby daughter slowly. He turned to his wife and looked at her gently and said, "I've saved the best for last."He shared with her the most passionate kiss. They stared at each other, having big smiles. They reminded(使想起)me of newlyweds(新婚夫妇).

  • 1. 第二节 (满分25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Alessandro Vitale was born in Verona, Italy. As his parents were busy working, they were unable to care for his sister and him at the same time. Therefore, Alessandro grew up with his grandparents.

Alessandro' s grandmother was good at cooking. His grandfather used to take him out for fishing or to his garden in the town. Alessandro' s grandparents greatly influenced him, and he learned many things from them. At a young age, he was introduced to gardening, especially grow-ng fruit and vegetables by his grandfather, and he learned great recipes from his grandmother.

Even though Alessandro got into gardening at a young age, he had to focus on school later. In 2015, he moved to London to work there and left gardening aside. Alessandro did several different jobs after getting there, but he liked none of them really.

One day after working in London for a few months, Alessandro and his roommate went to a supermarket and bought some vegetables. After returning home, they started cooking together. When cutting a red chilli(辣椒). Alessandro saw its seeds. An idea occurred to him that he could grow food himself. He had little connection with nature then and thought the food grown by him-self was much healthier. Moreover, he wanted to take up gardening in memory of his grandfather. But he had never expected his future gardening journey would greatly influence his life and career.

Alessandro planted these seeds in pots on his small balcony. In just a few weeks, Alessandro scaled up his garden and grew more plants. His whole space was filled with plants. He fell in love with gardening and did anything he could to make his garden thrive(旺盛), such as reading various farming books to learn new technologies and skills. Besides gardening, he was also into zero-waste cooking. Thanks to his grandmother' s recipes, he could cook his garden produce in creative ways.

    注意:续写词数应为150个左右。

Gradually, Alessandro turned his garden into a much bigger one.

Inspired by the popularity of his videos online, Alessandro began to write books on gardening.

  • 1.  阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。

That was a big competition. We all knew it, The entire school was filled with excitement and anticipation. It was the annual choir (合唱) competition, and we were determined to participate despite

knowing that many of us were not the best singers. As the class monitor, I felt responsible for calling in my classmates and convincing them to join the chorus. I knew it wouldn't be easy ; some of them were hesitant and gave me skeptical looks, while others ran away. But I wasn't ready to give up.

With a persuasive tone and genuine enthusiasm, I spoke to my classmates, explaining why it was important for us to participate as a team, [ told them that it wasn't about being the best. but about coming together and enjoying the experience of singing as a group. Slowly, I started to see some students were interested and a few of them promised to give it a try.

Our rehearsals(排练)were intense . filled with laughter, and sometimes frustration. We tried our best to perfect our harmonies and cooperation, but deep down, we still held onto the belief that we would probably end up at the bottom of all the choirs. In that moment of despair, a boy from our choir whispered, " Are we just asking for humiliation(羞耻)?" The words made our doubts and fears stronger. But right before it was our tur to step onto the stage, Mrs. Wood, our music teacher, brought us together in a tight group. She looked into our eyes and said firmly, " We are not here to impress; we are here to express. " Her words made all the difference.

With an understanding of the true meaning of our performance, we stepped onto the stage. As the music started, we sang from our hearts. We didn't worry about being perfect or winning the competition: we focused on expressing our love for music and the joy of singing together.

    注意:

    1. 续写词数应为 150 左右;

    2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

When the performance ended, our headmaster stepped onto the stage.

'The competition results were announced later, and we were awarded a special medal for our team spirit.
