Toucans can be found in the forests of South America. Their home is in danger. It is advised not to buy rainforest wood and to make sure toucans have their habitat.
Toucans have a black body about 24 inches long. They have colorful beak(鸟喙). It is 1/3 as long as the bird's body. It may look pretty big, but thankfully, for the toucan their beaks are not too heavy.
Toucans use their beak to peel and eat different kinds of fruit, which is the kind of food they eat most often. Sometimes toucans will choose insects(昆虫)or the eggs of other birds to eat. Toucans get most of their water from the fruit they eat, so they don't need too much extra water.
Toucans don't have very big wings(翅膀). It is not easy for them to fly. So, you'll often find them hopping rather than flying through the air. Toucans can be rather lazy birds and they usually like to stay in one place. They don't fly high up in the sky or very far away from home, and enjoy staying in trees with their delicious fruit to eat.
Wild cats and other larger birds catch toucans in the rainforest. Some snakes may catch smaller toucans but usually are more interested in the toucan's eggs.
