I come from a small village in North China. Every year, when the Spring Festival comes, people can see red flowers 1 the window of my house. Of course, they are paper flowers. But on the cold winter days, these wonderful flowers make us feel 2 . They can cheer up my family and make us feel happy. But do you know who cuts them? It is my grandmother. With a few cuts, she can 3 turn pieces of paper into a beautiful work of art.
When my grandma was a little girl, people 4 her as the most clumsy(笨拙的) child in her family. But one day, she saw her new neighbour cut some beautiful red paper flowers. She was so 5 in it and decided to learn from the neighbour. She cut lots of paper, but many of 6 were not good. She even cut her fingers many times, but she never 7 heart. It took over ten years before my grandma could learn the 8 of making paper art. The red flowers make her happy. Now, my grandmother is famous for her paper flowers and almost everyone in the 9 loves them.
The story of my grandma has shown us the way to 10 . As we know, happiness comes from hard work. When we want to achieve（实现）our dreams, we must work hard.
There are many traditional cultures in China. All of them have a very long history. Let's have a look at some of them.
Chinese Handwriting（书法）
It is an important part of Asian culture. Brush handwriting is popular around the world. Wang Xizhi is very famous for his handwriting. He made a great difference to the development of regular script（楷书）.
Chinese Painting
It is one of the oldest art forms in the world. Most of the Chinese paintings in Chinese history were done on paper. They are mainly about mountains and water, figures（人物）, flowers and birds. The most famous form of Chinese painting is mountains and water.
Chinese Folk（民俗的）Music
It has something to do with Chinese old stories. One of the works, Shijing, had some folk songs from 15 different areas. Guqin, guzheng, erhu and xiao are traditional Chinese musical instruments（乐器）.
Weiqi
Weiqi originated（起源）in China. It is called "yi" in Chinese history, it's a game between two players. It has a history of over 3,000 years. The game is said to be the beginning of chess games. It was introduced（被引进）to Korea about 2,000 years ago.
The holidays are a great time to get into the kitchen. Cooking is fun to do, cooking is just a very thing and it can make you feel good too. We asked Sally and Kate from the food club to talk about some of the joys（快乐）and good of cooking. The following is what they said.
When you use a recipe, you might learn new words. You will also do some math with counting, weighing and working out the cooking time. Cooking can be very different too. If you know how a recipe works, you can make delicious dishes with something different at home.
Being in a warm kitchen, cooking with your family or friends is a special time when you can find time to have a talk together. Finally, of course, there's time when you enjoy delicious meals with your family and everyone smiles. It feels great to see everyone enjoy the meals you cook.
Cooking is a great way to show your love and care for your family. It is also a great way to bond（联系）with your friends and family, and to create memories.
Golden Hook is a group of some grandmas and a young man. They make beautiful hats and sell them all around the world.
You don't buy Golden Hook hats in a shop. If you want one, you need to go to its website(网站) and choose the size and colour you want. Then you look at photos of some grandmas and choose one to make the hat by hand(用手) just for you. One week later, you will get the hat with a special message from her.
Jeremy Emsellem started Golden Hook in Paris. In 2005, when he was 19, Jeremy began to knit(编织)hats for fun. He wore the hats to school. Other students really liked them. Everyone wanted one! Jeremy made hats for 50 students,but he didn't have time to make hats for everyone.
Then, in 2007, he visited his old aunt and had an idea. His old aunt and her friends had lots of time. They were also very good at knitting. Jeremy asked them if they wanted to make hats. Six of them said yes. In 2008, Jeremy started the Golden Hook company. In the first year, they only sold 300 hats, but the hats got popular soon. In 2010, Golden Hook had 20 old women making those beautiful hats.
Jeremy is happy that Golden Hook lets people get excellent hats and helps grandmas get money and something interesting to do.

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer both had very busy jobs and didn't have much time to spend with their young children. They wanted to change this. Both of them were interested in boating, so they decided to sail（航行）around the world with their children.
It took them six years to prepare everything for the trip. First, they bought a new boat. Then, they had to take advanced（高级的）sailing lessons and learn all about the sea and the weather. Mr. Spencer also took several courses in preparing engines and Mrs. Spencer spent an hour in a restaurant to cut up fish.
In October, they had one year off from their jobs and sailed from England with their two children. The next year, in August, their trip ended in Australia.
The boat was not big, but they took a teacher for their children with them. Their trip was not boring because there were three computers, many CDs, a TV and a DVD player on the boat.
The family loved seeing the stars in the sky during the trip. But, most of all, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer enjoyed spending time with their children while they were still young.
Two years ago, I had a trip to Guangzhou w my wife, my son and my little daughter . It was around 2 a. m when we a at our hotel. My little daughter looked out at the lights of Canton Tower and said she wanted to go outside. I told her it was too l to go out, but she kept looking out of the window and said, "Just for two minutes. "
My wife and I just looked at each other, smiled and said, "Two minutes!" We put on coats a walked to Canton Tower. When we got there, my daughter pointed at the lights and shouted h, "Dad, look!" And then she fell asleep. So we had to go back to the h.
It took us half an hour to get ready for the 20 seconds(秒) we spent near the tower, but it made our daughter happy and that m a lot to us. That night I learned a lesson about happiness. We sometimes have chances to s happy moments with our family or friends in our lives, but we often find an excuse(借口) to do s else.
Happiness is a d that is always open, and we are the ones who have to decide if we are going to walk through the door.
