Look closely at your hands. Are they clean? It doesn't matter how many times you your hands, tiny microbes(微生物)still stay on them. But don't worry. Most microbes don't harm you. 

Now scientists say the microbes on our hands could be used in a surprising way: fighting crime. According to a recent study, microbes as well as finger prints(指纹)could be used to identify the criminal. 

Everyone has his own set of microbes on the hands. That is to say, if you and your best friend were able to see and compare all the microbes on your hands, your hands probably would look different. Some microbes only show up on your hands while others live only on your friend's hands. 

When you work on a computer, you leave the microbes from your hands on the keyboard. The scientists can easily tell the owner of the keyboard by looking at the microbes on it. Even if you don't leave your fingerprints behind, your microbes may give you away. 

Noah Fierer, a scientist says," You can only clean a fingerprint, but you can't sterilize(使无菌)a surface just by wiping(擦)it off." He says that scientists have a lot more work to do before the microbes is used as a useful tool. 

A farmer had a cow. He took very good care of this cow and one day when it was ill, he was very worried. He telephoned the vet. 

"What's the problem?" The vet asked him when he arrived. 

"My cow's ill," the farmer said. "I don't know what's the matter with her. She's lying down and won't eat. She's making a strange noise. "

The vet looked over the cow. "She's certainly ill," he said, "and she needs to take some very strong medicine."

He took a bottle out of his box, put two pills into his hand and said, "Give her these. The pills should make her better. "

"How should I give them to her?" the farmer asked. 

The vet gave him a tube (管子) and said, "Put this tube in her mouth, then put the pills in the tube and blow. That'll make it. "

The next day the vet came to the farm again. The farmer was sitting outside his house and looked more worried. 

"How's your cow?" the vet asked. 

"No change," the farmer said, "and I'm feeling very strange myself."

Manners are very important for our daily life. There are many different customs and habits among different countries. We must find out and follow their customs so that they will not think us ill-mannered. Here are examples of the things that a person with good education should do. 

If you visit a Chinese family, you should knock at the door first. When the door opens, you will not move before the host says "Come in, please. " After you enter the room, you would not sit down until the host asks you to take a seat. When a cup of tea is sent to your hand, you should say "Thank you" and receive it with two hands. Before entering a house in Japan, it is good manners to take off your shoes. In European countries, even though shoes sometimes become very dirty, this is not done. In a Malay house, a visitor always leaves a little food to show that he has had enough. In England, a visitor always finishes the food to show that he has enjoyed it. The host will be pleased with that. 

You have to give your present in public in the Middle East to show it is not a bribe. But it's good manners to give your present in private in Asia. You mustn't give knives in Latin America because it suggests that you want to cut off the relationship. You mustn't give your food to Arabia because it suggests that you think your host isn't offering you enough to eat. 

"Come any time" means "I want you to visit me" in India. If you don't suggest a time at once, the India will think you are refusing the invitation. But if an Englishman says "Come any time", they will think you are impolite if you start fixing a date. 

The Earth is 4. 5 billion years old, but the human race has lived on it for just hundreds of thousands of years. In that short time, we have achieved some amazing things. 

The list is almost endless. The invention of the airplane has changed our lives. 

The discovery of antibiotics(抗生素)has saved the lives of millions of people. Can you imagine living without electricity? What about the printing(印刷术)？Without the printing, you wouldn't be reading this. In the last 50 years, there have been great achievements in communication, such as radio, TV, computers, the Internet, and smart-phones(智能手机)、

. 

What about the arts? The arts have brought pleasure to many people, but are the Beatles more important than antibiotics?

Finally, we must not forget humans 'early achievements.  We can't imagine modem life without cooked food and cars. 

What are humans 'greatest achievements? To answer the question, we need to decide what we mean by "great".  Or is it just something that makes us say "Wow," like the Great Wall? What do you think?

Taichi is an ancient martial art(武术). It is a common kind of exercise in China. More than 100 million people in over 150 countries practice Taichi at present. Recently UNESCO(联合国教科文组织) (put) Taichi into its Intangible Cultural Heritage List(非物质文化遗产名录). Many Taichi fans were happy(hear) of it. "This will make Tai-chi more popular around the world. (hope), more people  will become (health) after practicing it, said  Chen Bin. 

It is true that (do) Taichi is good for our health. It can make us move more freely and it can also make us stronger. During slow movements, we can focus on our hands and (foot). We can control them better. 

Tachi also focuses on the harmony(和谐)  yin(阴) and yang(阳). It shows how the ancient people saw the world. The world is full of yin and yang: dark and light, soft and hard, female and male. But they don't oppose each other completely. As we see in the sign of Taichi, a white spot is in the black area and a black spot is in the white area. After a dark night, the sun will rise.  (leaf) fall in autumn but grow in spring. Everything (keep) changing-that is  we should see the world. 

It is important to have good learning habits if you want to study, and this is especially true when it comes to online learning. 

Online learning is a process different from what you will find in a traditional school. The learning environment and methods are different. When studying in a classroom, there is a lot of communication between the students and the teacher, but little interaction(互动)among the students, while online learning helps one student and another to interact very seriously and closely. So one of an online professor's roles is to encourage students to interact. Another is to guide discussion but not to take total control of students' thoughts as teachers do in a classroom. 

So what are the good learning habits you should have in online learning? Here are some good suggestions. First, it is a good idea to prepare well for online learning. You can write down daily tasks and even weekly tasks that you want to complete. By doing so, you will have a good plan for achieving your goals. Second, you should spend as much time on-line as if you were going to regular courses. Also, always try to set aside extra time to communicate with other students:
