Beethoven is my favorite musician. He is one of the world's greatest composers and pianists, He wrote a lot of beautiful pieces of music. At the age of four, he could already play the piano. I only started playing when I was eight!

Beethoven's first music teacher was his father and he saw that the boy had a lot of talent. He wanted his son to be the next Mozart. Beethoven practiced very hard for very long hours. Because of this, he quickly became very popular. Many people enjoyed his music and liked to hear him play the piano.

However, at the age of 26，Beethoven suddenly started to lose his hearing. He had to stop his successful career as a pianist but he continued working hard and did not let this stop him. He wrote more music, and some of his later pieces became very famous. They are still widely played today. I have listened to all of his music pieces already and the one I like best is Symphony No. 9. But Beethoven's life was still not easy. There is a well-known story about that. Once someone had to turn Beethoven around so that he could see people standing

and cheering for him, When Beethoven realized that he could not hear anything, he cried. He wrote some letters to his closest friends, telling them how he felt. Some of these letters have been carefully kept in museums. I have not visited those museums yet but I really want to!

To travel around the world is a dream of many adventurous (爱冒险的) people. But very few people can afford a global (全球的) tour because hotels, food and airplane tickets are too expensive. Some people, however, have thought of some ways to realize their dreams.

Laura and Tanbay, a couple from Britain, decided to travel around the world. They have found a good way to pay for their trips. They look after pets for rich house owners. In exchange, they can stay in the houses for free. They have looked after horses, cows, cats, dogs and fish. In two years, the couple has been to Australia, Germany, Spain and Italy. They have stayed in big cities and small villages. The home owners are usually generous and have given them food, wine and day trips.

Another person who tries to realize her travel dream is photographer Rhiannon. She travels around the world to visit, review and take photos of the best hotels. She shares the places she stays and the food she eats on the Internet with tens of thousands of followers.

With these ways of making money, traveling around the world is no longer a dream, More and more young people are thinking creatively to make their dreams come true.

People often use their phones to take pictures of their meals – especially fancy ones – to share online. But Clear Plate, a We Chat mini-program, encourages you to take pictures of your empty plates after a meal. The program's AI "sees" that your plates are empty and gives you points. You can use these points to buy yourself gifts or give away the points to buy meals for children in poor areas.

The program was developed by Liu Jichen, 23, a student at Tsinghua University. Liu came up with the idea in 2017. "Technological innovation (创新) is a good way to cut down food waste," said Liu. He put together a 20-member team to work on the program. To teach the program's AI how to recognize empty plates, the team spent half a year collecting 100,000 photo samples from cafeterias and restaurants in 10 cities. 

The team also started a campaign called Clear Your Plate in Chinese universities in 2018. Students compete against each other to see who can get those most points in Clear Plate. Now in its third year, the one-month campaign has reached 1,017 schools. In 2020, almost 1.6 million people took part in it, cutting down food waste by 862 tons and carbon emissions by 3,337 tons, China Youth Daily reported.

"We hope what we have done can start a new trend among the young people by encouraging them to cherish their food and develop the habit of thrift（节俭）," Liu said. 

The life has been full of challenges and difficulties. Life is not about the smartest person or the strongest person, or even the richest person. However, Life is about having the mind in your heart "Never Give Up", even when you feel that giving up is only choice. The world is waiting on your gifts.

You are important to this world and believe it or not, someone is waiting for you to enrich their lives. You are too important to the world to just give up.

You may feel that life is challenging you from time to time and you can't take it anymore. You may want to give up right now. But here is a thought, what will happen if you overcome the difficulties?

When an Olympic runner is in a race, he or she is focusing on one thing－the finishing line. You have to focus on the big picture－not just where you are right now. Focus in where you want to be. Make an agreement with your mind and your mouth.

One of my favorite poems is called "Crystal Stair" written by Langston Hughes. In that poem, a mother tells her son that life is tough, you will meet rocks and hard places, but the end is victory to those who stand their ground and ride the course.

Whatever you are facing, you can make it through. There is a rainbow on the other side of your situation. Stay strong, stay focused and never give up.

How can you get the most information from a book? Here are some suggestions that can help you effectively.

Read whole thing.

When you're learning something by reading, it's (important) to have a general idea than to understand every detail. In fact, no matter how (careful) you read, you won't remember or understand all of the details. So (remember) the main points will be OK.

Decide how much time you will spend.

If you know that you have only six hours to spend a book, it'll be wise of you to adjust ( 调整 ) (you). Never start to read without planning when (stop).

Have a purpose.

Before you begin, find out you want to read this book. If you don't have reasons of your own, you can't learn much. After you start to read, try to think of four questions: Who is the writer? What are the book's (opinion)? What are the reasons? What are the conclusions?

Read it three times.

You'll get the most out of the book after you read it three times — fast-reading for general ideas, reading for understanding, and reading   note-taking and remembering.
