It is exciting to travel to other countries. We can see many interesting things and people there. We can also1much delicious food there. But sometimes we aren't so happy2we can't understand(理解) the people there and it3us much trouble.
One of the best ways of understanding the people is to watch4they do in their free time. Most English men,women and children love5things,especially flowers. Visitors to England in spring,summer or autumn can6gardens all the way along the railway lines(铁路线). There are flowers at the airports,in factory grounds and in gardens along the7. Each English town has at least one8with beautiful flower beds.
But what the English enjoy most is planting things9. If it is difficult to have a garden,then a window box or a pot will do. Looking at each other's10is what the English like doing in their free time.

An artist goes to a beautiful part of the country for a holiday and stays with a farmer. Every day he goes out with his paints and brushes and paints till evening. When it gets dark he goes back to the farm and has a good dinner before he goes to bed.
At the end of his holiday he wants to pay the farmer, but the farmer says, "No, I don't want money. But give me one of your pictures. What's money? In a week it will all be finished, but your picture will still be here. "
The artist is very happy and thanks the farmer for saying such kind things about his pictures. The farmer smiles and answers, "It's not that. I have a son in London. He wants to become an artist. When he comes home next month，I'll show him your picture, and he will not want to be an artist any more, I think. "
