Jenny delivered (配送) food for a restaurant. She read the newspaper and said, "Uh-oh. There was a story about a thief. He stole food, and no one had seen him. Even the police could not catch him." Jenny was a little scared because she worked close to that area.
The newspaper included a message from the police: "If you help us catch the thief, you'll learn a reward(悬赏金). "
Jenny talked to Jim who managed the restaurant. "Do you know about the thief?" "Yes, "he continued, "But he steals more than one person can eat. If you see him, call the police. Don't run after him."
One day, Jenny drove to a customer's house. She left her car and opened the gate to the house. But then she heard a noise by her car. She shouted, "Thief!" She wasn't scared anymore. She wanted the reward! She did the opposite of what Jim told her to do. "Stop!" She set the food on the ground and ran to her car. But the thief had already left with the rest of the food. Jenny followed a noise around the corner. She was too surprised to believe. A mother dog was feeding some puppies(幼犬), thin and scared. They were eating her food! The "thief" was found!
Jenny felt bad. She tried to comfort the dogs with another plate of food. Then she took them back to the store. Jenny called the police and told them there was no real thief.
This time, Jenny didn't do it to receive the reward anymore. She said, "It was just a dog. But it means a lot more than money. "

"Everything in the world fears time, yet time fears the pyramids. "The pyramids of Khufu have been timeless symbols of Egyptian culture.
But who actually built them? For years, we did not know for sure. But archaeologists recently discovered an ancient village near the pyramids. Close by, there was a cemetery(墓地)where pyramid builders were buried. By studying these places, archaeologists are now certain that the pyramids were not built by foreigners or aliens. Instead, ordinary Egyptians built them.
It took about 80 years to build the pyramids. And the Pyramid of Khufu is the largest of all. It reaches a height of 138. 5 meters, and the sides of the base are 230. 4 meters long. Inside, there are three large rooms and many passages(通道). According to archaeologists, about 20, 000 to30, 000 people took part in the building task. The workers had different roles. Some were made to dig up the rocks to be used. Others were tasked with moving them, while another group was given the job of shaping them into blocks.
Life for these workers was hard. Archaeologists from Harvard University found in a study that the bones of some men workers show signs of arthritis (关节炎), which probably developed because they had to carry heavy things for a long time. However, workers usually had enough food and could get good medical care when they got sick or hurt.
The work was hard, but the builders were proud of their work. "They were not only building the pyramid but also building Egypt." says Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass.
Dear Marcel,
I'm writing to tell you that we've finally found a new place to live-after months and months of looking! Before I forget, our new address is 136 Bording Street, Valhi Hill, Manchester. I can't wait and I'm really looking forward to that.
The new house is much nicer than the one we're living in now. It's bigger, so that's fantastic. Our new place has got four bedrooms—one for Mary and me, one for each kid, and as pare bedroom. So you're always welcome to stay with us if you want to visit Manchester again!
It'll be nice for the kids to have somewhere to run and play. And we can sit outside in summer and watch them. I know you don't think we have summers here in England, but we had almost ten hot, sunny days last year!
I don't think you know Valhi Hill. It's a nice area, but it's not very convenient for transport. You have to take a bus to High gate and then get the underground from there. It takes about 45 minutes to get into the city centre. Our house is very convenient for the shops, though. A great Turkish shop is only three doors down from us. Anyway, we hope you'll come and see it for yourself sometime soon. We'd love to see you again.
Luke

Xuan paper has a history of more than 1,500 years, and Xuan paper is one the Four Treasures of the Study.
It was first produced in the Tang Dynasty in Jing County, which was under the rule of Xuanzhou, so it named Xuan paper. Due to different producing methods, Xuan paper can be divided Shengxuan, Shuxuan and Banshuxuan. Shengxuan has the best ability to absorb ink(吸收墨汁), it can quickly show every small change of the writing brush. Shuxuan doesn't absorb ink quickly, so it is suitable for painting or calligraphy(书法) with fine strokes(笔画). third type is Banshuxuan, whose ability to absorb ink is between the former two. It is used most often.
Xuan paper is an artistic creation made by Chinese working people. Without it, Chinese calligraphy and painting cannot express the beauty of art.
