The first week of September was a week that I had been expecting all summer. I didn't want summer to end, but I was excited about going to high school for my first week.
When I got to school in the morning on the first day I realized how large the school was, and how many students went there. I ended up in the wrong classroom because of the size of the school. Luckily, a kind senior showed up and guided me to my homeroom before I was late. I was happy to see that in a class of unfamiliar (不熟悉的) faces, the only open seat was next to my good friend, Casey. My science teacher seemed like a good teacher. She was exciting and fun.
After finishing four periods without too much of a challenge, I didn't feel too bad about ninth grade. However, the fifth period changed everything. I didn't feel ready after all. My teacher's name is Mr. Valassidis but he told us to call him Mr. V. Mr. V told us that we would have to write 40 essays (文章) and read AP-level books such as The Odyssey this year. I love reading and writing, but come on, 40 ESSAYS? AP-level books? Now I was afraid.
The courses in high school seem like they're going to get much harder, but they haven't yet. Even though my classes look hard, they look really exciting too.
The first week passed quickly. Although a lot of things were overwhelming (令人不知所措的): the size of the campus, the crowds (人群) and the seniors, having a totally different experience than I had ever had before was really exciting. Now, I'm really happy about high school. I have lots of friends in my classes, I really like my teachers and I'm meeting new people.
How to Have a Successful Teenage Life?
Everyone dreams of success in their life, don't they? Even as a teenager, you can achieve success in your life; it really isn't that hard.
Do well in school.
No matter how boring it is now，education will help you be a productive member in society. Try your best for excellence in school; listen to the teachers，do your homework, study, and get good grades. Doing so will help you get into a better university，which will enable you to have a bright future.
Do good in your community (社区).
Volunteering can not only improve your community's status, but it can make you happier. Studies show that people who volunteer are less likely to develop depression (抑郁) than people who don't. or example, if you love animals, volunteer at an animal shelter. If you love helping the environment，plant trees or pick up litter. When you help others, it will make you feel better about yourself.
Remember, they're there to help you be the best that you can be. Respect them and value their opinions，even if they annoy you sometimes. You don't get to choose your teachers or your family, but you still have to put up with them. Learn how to deal with people now, because when you're an adult, you don't get to choose your boss or your co-workers, so learn how to respect them now.

Peru is a country on the Pacific coast of South America. It was the centre of the (power) ancient Inca Empire in the 15th and 16th centuries. If you want to travel around Peru, there are four places worth visit. First, you'll begin your Amazon rainforest tour. Then, if you expect (admire) the Incas' unique architecture, Machu Picchu is the perfect place you to visit. There you'll be amazed by the ancient city, (especial) its dry stone method of building. The next place, Cusco, was once the capital of the Inca Empire, at you can visit the museums and enjoy the excellent local food. From Cusco, you drive along the new highway for a day, arriving at Lake Titicaca. There, a boat (take) you to stay with a local Uros family on an island for three days.
