When I was 12 years old, I really wanted a new bike! I1my parents my birthday wish, but I knew there was little hope because my family could2had the money.
On my birthday my parents told me they had put my3in the back yard. At once I 4to the yard. There was my bike, 5it wasn't the bike that I wanted. This one was pink, old and worn(破旧的). It was so 6!I cried the moment I saw it and I went back to my room. After a while, I thought I was wrong. I 7my parents' feelings because I could remember the disappointment (失望)8their faces just now. I went to the yard, 9the old bike and rode it, feeling 10that I made my parents feel sad. So I put on a smile, rode as fast as I could and didn't 11.
As time went by, I began to understand that my parents gave me 12 much more valuable(宝贵的) than just a rusty(生锈的) old bike. They gave me a life lesson about 13. When you give something out of love, it doesn't matter what it is in fact. What matters is the love. I'd like to remember this 14 because giving a gift is not about money. It's about how much love you put into it. Do remember, a gift that 15two dollars isn't any less valuable than one costs two hundred dollars or even more.

So when we have difficulties, we shouldn't accept the food handed out in contempt (轻视) .

Is lunch your favorite part of the school day? The school lunches I grew up with may be different from yours.
Just like in China, schools in the US do provide lunch for students. But when I was a kid, it was also common(普遍) for us to bring our own lunches to school. Every day, parents had to think about making a delicious and healthy lunch for their children. In the US, school kids sometimes can forget their lunch, or have a bully (霸凌者) take their lunch.
And that's not all. Most US schools , after a certain age, allow(允许) kids to go out for lunch. US kids can also get a driver's license (驾照) when they turn 16. After my friends and I turned 16, we'd often like to drive away from school and find something to eat. A common place for us to eat was our town's supermarket. In this supermarket, they served fried chicken. After eating, we'd go to the park before we had to go back to class.
In Thailand, people do not eat with chopsticks, like in China, Japan, and Korea. They use spoons and forks..Most food is already cut.If you need to cut things, use the side of your spoon first and then use your fork..If you are right-handed, keep the spoon in your right hand and the fork in your left hand.
.The rice is not on the same plate with the other food.It is not necessary to finish all your rice or all your food.It is good to leave a little on your plate. If you eat anything, it means you want more.
.The host(主人) will ask you two or three times if you want more food.It is the same with whatever you are drinking.During the meal, never empty your cup or glass. When it is less than half full, your host or neighbor will fill it again..Always refill(再加满) your neighbor's glass. This means that you must keep an eye on your neighbor's glass all through the meal.
A.They never use knives B.Never fill your own glass C.People always offer you more food D.Remember to fill your bowl in time E.People often eat from the same bowl F.The spoon is more important than the fork G.People usually have rice in a different bowl |
