Educational technology such as apps can help students with time management, organization skills, study skills, homework and more. Below is a list of apps for college students recommended by educational technology experts. The needs of individual students differ and experts suggest that students try out several apps to find the right one. Unless costs are noted in the app descriptions below, these learning tools are free to users:

Three lifeguards were recognized as heroes last night after they rescued dozens of teenagers from the sea. The quick action and bravery of the lifeguards saved several of the youngsters from certain death.
The group of thirty-six youngsters were on an outdoor activity holiday in West Wales. On Saturday afternoon, the group, accompanied by four adults, went down to the sea. Some of them did not know how to swim and had never seen the sea before the trip. They were taking part in an exercise to help build confidence and teamwork. As part of the exercise they were walking backwards into the sea. At the time the tide (海潮) was out and the water was not deep. The tide began to come in and the group started walking back to dry land. Suddenly the sandbank underneath them collapsed (坍塌) and the sea flooded in. Some of the teenagers were soon in dangerous waters.
Fortunately, three lifeguards were nearby and came to the rescue. David Miller, manager for the local coastguard, said that although the sea was fairly shallow, it was still very dangerous in that sea. "It is just fortunate that the brave lifeguards were quickly on the scene and lucky that lives were not lost, " he added.
Making an advertisement for television often costs more than a movie. For example, a two-hour movie costs ﹩6 million to make. A TV commercial can cost more than $6, 000 a second. And that does not include the cost of paying for air time (播送时间). Which is more valuable, the programme or the ad? In terms of money-and making money is what television is all about-the commercial is by far the more important.
Research, market testing, talent, time and money-all come together to make us want to buy a product. No matter how bad we think a commercial is, it works. The sales of charm went up once the ads began. TV commercials actually buy their way into our head. We, in turn, buy the product.
And the ads work because so much time and attention are given to them. Here are some rules of a commercial ad making. If you want to get the middleclass buyers, make sure the announcer has a tough, manly voice. Put some people in the ad who work with their hands. If you want to sell products to upperclass audience, make sure that the house, the furniture, and the hairstyle are the types that the group identifies with. If you want the buyer to feel superior to the character selling the product, then make that person so stupid or silly that everyone will feel great about himself or herself.
We laugh at commercials. We don't think we pay that much attention to them. But evidence shows we are kidding ourselves. The making of a commercial that costs so much money is not kid stuff. It's big, big business. And it's telling us what to think, what we need, and what to buy. To put it simply, the TV commercial is a form of brainwashing.
Kids and science seem to be made for each other!
The basic science is a combination of thought and experiment called the scientific method. It's where you start with an idea, create a way to prove or disprove your idea, and show what you learned based on facts. Learning to follow this process helps you think and carefully. These important thinking skills can be used in many areas of study. To give a child practice with these thinking skills is like giving vitamins (维生素) to a developing mind.
One of the greatest things we can teach our children is to love learning. Learning science is a great way to do so. Children are easy to be interested in science. Because much of science is hands-on (实践), it attracts most children. Nothing makes a child sit up and take notice like the "WOW!" of a great science showing.
Science opens doors to many subjects at school. Building love for science can be helpful in other areas of study. For example, one cannot love science for very long without becoming good at its language-math!So science encourages children to study math. An interest in science is an interest in how things were once understood compared to how they are understood now. Thus studying science lends itself easily to studying history. And after you do an experiment, you need to write a lab report. Therefore, writing becomes an important part of science.
Science is the basic thing for much of our life. The science of farming shows how our food is produced; biomedical science keeps us healthy; even our beds these days are designed according to scientific facts. We almost eat, sleep and breathe with the help of science! When we prepare the next generation of voters, creators and policy makers, it is important to make sure they are not only comfortable but also good at science.
Do high school grades matter? In most cases yes, especially when you are applying to a good college after high school. So, how to get better grades?
Turn your homework into a pleasant routine. Homework is not always a pleasant thing, but if you do it at a clean and pleasant place that you like, it'll be less exhausting. Besides, you can get into a habit of doing your homework at the same time every day. For example, you may come home, relax for half an hour, and then start your homework. Or you may have more energy to do homework in the evening.
Try to turn to others for help. If you feel that you're lost in some subjects, you can talk with your teacher. They can always give you some advice on how to broaden your mind. They can either get you a private teacher or send you to a training class. This will allow you to spend your time more wisely on difficult things.
If you are studying for an exam, don't leave everything for the last day. Start studying as early as possible and process a small part of information every day for one hour or so. Have a rest on a final night before the exam, so your brain will process the information while you are sleeping. This will make sure that you will get your grades up fast in high school.
These methods can go a long way into helping you become more focused on your work towards improving your grades. And you'll soon make great progress.
A. Also, you can ask your parents for help.
B. Break down your study materials into small pieces.
C. Decide for yourself which time works best for you.
D. Try to use them along with a strong wish to do everything better.
E. Actually, exercising during breaks between your tasks is also helpful.
F. Your grades will be better if you feel comfortable talking to your teachers.
G. What's more, studies show that high grades can benefit your future career.
At the age of 60, my father was hit by a car when he walked to a nearby supermarket to buy vegetables. After 1for two months in hospital, he finally woke up. His waking up excited all our family. 2, he didn't know any of us. Doctors said his brain was hurt so 3that he had lost all his memory. And his mental age (心理年龄) was only five. We were sorry to hear about the bad news.
Since I was his only child, it was my 4to look after him. He forgot almost everything, but he did remember he liked sweets. I used the sweets as a way of 5bad behaviors. I would gave him one sweet 6he didn't sit on the ground, a second for stopping painting on the wall, and another for not trying to put clothes on the dog.
Dad became the 7child in town. He climbed up the tree to catch a bird and couldn't get down after it flew away. He broke my window with a ball and 8our telephone in water like washing clothes. When I told him he was doing 9things, he would answer smilingly, "I like that!" My son, then aged five, and two eight-year-old daughters, welcomed their 10playmate. He would happily make them real cigarettes, 11his sweets with them, and carry them high in the apple tree to pick apples.
It is eight years since the 12. Dad has accepted the fact that he is the grandfather of his three playmates but not a brother. He has also accepted that they grow taller but his 13stays the same. Though it is still 14to take care of him, he brings us a lot of fun. In some way I think it is a(n) 15thing to look after dad like looking after a child. How many people can have the chance to care for a child-like parent?
Nowadays, more and more people have chances to travel, study, work or even live abroad. It is necessary for you to keep in mind these general (rule) for polite behavior.
If you (invite) to an American friend's home for dinner, first of all, arrive approximately on time \ (but not early). Americans expect promptness (准时).
When you're invited to someone's home for a meal, is polite to bring a small gift. Flowers or candies are always appropriate. If you have an attractive item (make) in your native country, your host or hostess would certainly enjoy receiving that as a gift.
(wear) proper clothes and a beautiful smile is simply not enough. Table manners are also of great (important).Do not open your mouth to talk, unless you have swallowed your food. Also chew (咀嚼) food with your mouth (close). When you want to get the food that is at a distance, do not stretch your hands to reach it. Instead, ask for the food to be passed to you.
Don't leave (immediate) after dinner, but don't overstay your welcome, either. When your friends seem to be getting tired and running out of conversation, take their behavior as a signal to leave. The next day, call or write thank-you note to say how much you enjoyed the evening.
Tom has an aunt who lives in a far-off village. He hadn't seen her for two years and he really missed her. Tom spent a lot of time with his aunt when he was a little boy. At that time, his parents were too busy with their work, so they sent him to his aunt. It was his aunt who took care of him for a long time. He remembered that back then a girl sometimes played with him. But he couldn't remember her clearly. After all, it had been so many years before.
Last week, Tom decided to visit his aunt. And he called her first.
"Hello, Auntie. This is Tom. How are you?" asked Tom over the phone.
"I'm fine, Tom. Thanks. I'm just a bit lonely, " said his aunt. Hearing that, he knew he had made a right decision.
"I'm coming this weekend. I want to spend the weekend with you," he immediately said, thinking his aunt would be surely full of joy.
"Really? That's great! Miss you so much. " his aunt said excitedly.
Tom set off on Friday afternoon. He thought he would arrive by bus in the evening, but there was an accident on the road and all the traffic was stopped for almost an hour. When he got off the bus, it was getting dark.
It's a ten-minute walk from the bus station to his aunt's house. The village had experienced a lot of changes. Tom looked around curiously. Just at that moment, another bus stopped and a girl got off the bus. The girl passed by Tom and began to walk into the village. Thinking that his aunt was waiting for him, Tom began to walk into the village, too.
He walked behind the girl. After about two minutes, it seemed that the girl noticed him. She looked back hurriedly, and then continued to walk. Moments later, the girl looked back again and then quickened her pace.
