Cindy comes from England. Her father works in a hospital and her mother teaches dance. When she was two, her parents bought her a small violin. Cindy's sister Virginia was sixteen at that time. She played the piano. After Cindy heard Virginia play something, she played it on her violin. Her great talent surprised her family. From the age of four, she played at a lot of concerts (音乐会) in England and America.
Many teachers wanted to give Cindy lessons but when she was seven she met Mr. Miller. She was sure from the beginning (开始) that he was the right teacher for her. Mr. Miller's work takes him around the world and each year Cindy flies hundreds of kilometers to get to his classes. Cindy was only fourteen when she made her first CD, but she says she is just like other children." I have lots of friends and I love music. I want to be a great violinist (小提琴手), but I also make sure I have time for other things."
Hi, everyone. I'm Bob. I'm from Canada, but I'm in America now. My host family (寄宿家庭) lives in New York. I go to a high school here. You know I love sports. I do some running every day. I play baseball and football well.
I find the high school is very different from the high schools in my country: no uniform, not many rules and you can eat and drink in class! We start school at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 3:00 p.m., so we have lots of time for sports.
We take six subjects this term and have one lesson in each subject every day. We can choose (选择) five of the subjects we like but we all have to take American History. There are ten subjects for us to choose from.
When I'm free, my host parents, Cathy and George, take me traveling. They are very nice.
I'm so glad I'm studying in America. It's a great experience (经历).

How are you? What about Uncle Tony and Aunt Sarah? Hope all of you are doing fine in Vancouver.
It was sunny and warm last Saturday. I went to the beach with my family. Dad drove us there. We don't often go out together (一起), but last Saturday was a very important day. It was my sister Anna's birthday.
Dad loves sunbathing (日光浴) very much. Last Saturday, he was in the beach chair all afternoon, enjoying the sunshine. My mother loves swimming. She swam in the sea (海) for an hour. She is a good swimmer. She joins the Harbour Swimming Race every year.
As for me, I don't really enjoy sunbathing or swimming. I love diving (潜水). It's easy to learn.
Anna and I dived into the sea and we found a lot of sea stars and other fishes. We also took a walk along the beach. We had much fun.

My name is Ashley White. I'm 14 years old. I like playing football and I play it for an hour every day. My P.E. teacher asks me to go and see some football games so I can play better. I want to see the game of a big club on Sunday evening. My mom and dad want to come with me. And they agree to (同意) pay for the tickets ( 票). When Mom asks me how much the tickets are, I can't answer, so I go online (上网) to find out. One ticket is $41.
I tell Mom the price, and she says it is too high. Then Dad says," Why don't we go and watch our town club on Saturday afternoon? It's a small club, but they play well and I don't think we each need to pay $41 to see them!" I find some tickets for the game online. They are $15 for adults (成人), and under-16s only pay $6. The prices are good. Then we buy three tickets. We go to the game and enjoy it so much.

Mary works in a studio (工作室) and she plays the piano there. Every day she up at eight o'clock in the morning. For breakfast, she drinks a cup of milk eats some bread. Then she drives her car to the studio. In the studio, she writes new and makes CDs. Sometimes she practices playing the new music. In the evening, she usually goes to the concert hall (音乐厅) to play her music for people. She often feels tired but she is with her work.
Do you have a favorite place to go? A place with family, good weather and fun things to do, like f a kite in the park and playing volleyball o the beach? I'm glad I do. New Jersey is my favorite place. Over half of my family live in New Jersey. I often go there during my summer holiday. My aunts take my cousins and me to see a in the zoo, go swimming in the river and so on. We laugh (笑) and play. We h a great time.
