Journalists are the professionals that are responsible for bringing all up-to-date information to readers from every corner of the world. By delivering their voice, many famous journalists have earned worldwide fame.
Joseph Pulitzer
According to Joseph Pulitzer, if a nation can be seen as a large ship at sea, the journalists are its watchkeepers who report hidden dangers to make sure the safe journey of the ship. He worked for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The World. He is known to the world as the "Grandfather of Modern Journalism".
Margaret Bourke White
Margaret Bourke White is known as the first female war journalist and a skilled photo-journalist. She did some outstanding work by creating a photographic record of World War and the Great Depression. She was the only photo-journalist who was permitted to work in combat zone by the US army to report the war.
Carl Bernstein
Carl Bernstein is one of the most famous American investigative journalist, and he has proved the saying, "The pen is more powerful than sword". Carl worked with another great journalist Bob Woodward at The Washington Post. They brought about a revolution in the US by working together on the Watergate scandal(丑闻), which led to President Richard Nixon's resignation. This let The Washington Post receive a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in1973.
Anna Quindlen
Anna Quindlen's love for journalism gave her a kick-start from her high school where she worked for her high school paper. Later, she went on to write interesting and in demand columns(专栏)like "Hers", "Public and Private" and many more for The New York Times, which won her the Pulitzer Prize in 1992. This is the reason why she is known as the "Voice of the Baby Boomers".
Have you ever run into a careless cell phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new "species" of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name — phubbers(低头族).
Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people under the spotlight. In the short film, phubbers with various social identities bury themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his cell phone while letting his patient die, a pretty woman takes selfie in front of a car accident site, and a father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A chain of similar events eventually leads to the destruction of the world.
Although the ending sounds overstated, the damage phubbing can bring is real.
Your health is the first to bear the effect and result of it. "Constantly bending your head to check your cell phone could damage your neck," Guangming Daily quoted doctors as saying, "the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching." Also, staring at cell phones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report.
But that's not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions with family or friends, many people tend to stick to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Qilu Evening News reported.
It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight.
Bryan Laubscher, one of the world's leading astrophysicists, who study the physics and chemistry of the stars, planets, etc, is developing an invention called the Mars Elevator. To form a picture of this, you may want to imagine the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. This is the story of a boy who grew a beanstalk that reached the heavens. Jack climbed the stalk and entered another world. The space elevator is similar but of course much more high-tech and better yet, it is real!
Astrophysicists are designing a steel-like cable (缆绳) that will be connected to a platform (平台) in the ocean. This cable is designed to be pulled up into space, where it will then be connected to a space station. People will be able to travel up and down this elevator by the year 2030. There will be a number of space elevators so that both tourists and businesses can travel into space. To get there, space tourists will simply travel to the nearest ocean elevator entrance. The trip up into space will take about a week. When they arrive, space tourists will be inside a space station and will be able to stay there. There are other alternatives, too. Astronomers think it will be easy to travel from the space station to the moon, where space tourists can stay in a moon hotel — which is now being designed.
The future looks bright for space tourists. It also looks bright for industry and scientists. Mining companies will travel to space to mine elements (元素) that are rare on Earth. Energy scientists will travel to space to set up space solar panels, which will collect a huge amount of energy from the sun and shoot it back to Earth where we can use it to heat our homes and meet our energy needs.
Students decide to take a job while being in university because of two reasons: on the one hand, they need money; on the other hand, they want to experience something new and they want to see what working means.
But is it good to take a job while you are a university student? There are both advantages and disadvantages if we were to answer this question. If we were to think about the advantages, we could mention the ones I have just discussed. Having a job at an early age helps us gain experience, which will be very useful to our later life. We may become financially independent and don't need to ask our parents for money each time we want to go downtown with our friends, or spend the holiday at the seaside or in the mountains.
However, students who take a job might have problems in spending enough time on their study. If they work during the day, they may have to be absent from their classes, and if they work at night they will feel tired the next day. They may choose to stay at home, resting. What's worse, some students may even get bored with study.
Well, this fact happens every now and then, but there are cases when well-prepared students take a part-time job but at the same time they make time for study, too. And they have good results. Their case is a good example to follow among the students who decide to work while being in university. Anyway, we need to keep in mind that study is the most important job for a student.
How to Support a Friend Struggling with Their Mental Health?
Maybe you've noticed a friend is opening up to you for the first time about their anxiety. . Here is what you can do when supporting someone who's struggling with their mental health.
Instead of making assumptions about what would be helpful to your loved one，ask them directly, "How can I support you?" Remember what you may need when you're struggling may not be what someone else needs when having a hard time.
Offer to help with everyday tasks
Many people struggling with their mental health may find it difficult to make basic decisions. Instead of using a common phrase "I'm here if you need me"，try to be specific about what you're offering.
Celebrate their wins, including the small ones
When a person is struggling with their mental health，every day can be full of challenges. . This can help affirm their feelings of agency. This could look like thanking them for being so honest or congratulating them for going to work.
Read up on what they're struggling with
. Take the time to educate yourself on what they're going through. For example, learning more about depression, so you can understand their lived experience and be aware of risky behaviors to look out for.

Just like everyone, I have experienced ups and downs in my life. I am an aerospace engineer from India. I was told by my relatives, close friends and others that it was1for a non-IT student to pursue a master's degree in IT and graduate from a US university.
I had never taken courses 2 to computers or programming. I was never interested in being a 3, but things changed. Computers became my companion and I 4 how dependent on them I was. I 5 imagining the back end processes happening inside the CPU and they amazed me. That's why I 6 to pursue a master's degree in IT.

Fall is here, but this year, tree (leaf) won't be the only thing to change color as it gets colder. Stone Island has recently pushed out heat sensitive sweaters(热感毛衣) that change color (depend) on the air temperature.
Stone Island is an Italian men's clothing brand known for experimenting with creative clothing materials. Its heat sensitive sweater consists two layers（层）. I'm so glad to give mine personal opinions on mine favorite newspaper English Monthly set up by the Students' Union. I'm a high school student which is enthusiastic about reading newspapers and I want to learn anything from them. I think English Monthly had many advantages. For one thing, it's rich in content, ranges from economy to civilization. For an another, it's a guide to English learning. Through it, I can have a good command what's going on at home and abroad and I've enriched my English knowledges. My suggestion is that it can introduce more about Chinese traditionally culture in the culture column.
