Joesph is a teacher in New York. He gives lessons to(he) students about American history. But he was bornKenya, an African country where the children lead a very different life. For example, a ten-year-old boy may spend(much) time taking care of cows than studying at school.
The children also learn many(skill) like how to live in the wild.
Unlike many other children, Joesph went to school. And(lucky), when he was 15, he came(study) in America and then became a teacher. Joesph has writtenbook called Facing the Lion. In the book, he talks about his childhood. He thinks(its) is very important for American children to learn about the cultural differences between their countrythe others. He also thinks children should learn to be strong and full of hope. Now Joesph(do) a project, hoping that it will help children face their own “lions”.
I get up at half past seven and get dressed for school. My school has a1—black trousers and shoes, a white shirt and a black and gold tie. The girls wear the same, or they can2a black skirt. Not all British schools have a uniform, but it's common here.
I don't live far from the school,3I walk there with my friends, Brian and Gemma. Lots of students4the school bus or their parents drive them to school. On Mondays we all start the day5a meeting in the school hall at eight fifty. The head teacher talks to us and gives us information about school events.
This year I've got nine subjects. We all study English, Maths and Science, and then we choose other6.
We have 20 minutes for break in the morning and an hour for7. Some students bring sandwiches to school for lunch, but my friends and I always eat in the8room where you can get a hot meal every day.
Lessons9at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, but on Mondays and Wednesdays I stay at school until five o'clock. There are lots of clubs and activities at our school.
At the end of the day I always spend two hours on10—sometimes three hours, as we get lots of homework now.
