I often show my students inspiring videos to start their day. I never know which ones will make a huge impact(影响，冲击), 1 I know they always reach the kids on some level. I recently showed my kids a video, where the 2 was “I am enough.”

When the3was over, I had each child say out loud,“I am enough.” It was 4 to see their backs straighten and their faces 5as they declared（表明，宣称） this for themselves.

I posted about this on my Facebook page and how 6 I felt to get to work with such open-hearted, amazing kids. A friend of mine 7 the post, watched the video, and felt moved. So moved,8, that a few days later I went to my mailbox and9 a beautiful ring stamped with “I am enough.” It was such an unbelievable gift of kindness and  I 10 how successful this simple video was .

The following day I was leaving my classroom, and I 11 my warm-up white board had been changed. Instead of the instructions I had for the following morning, one of my students had written, "I am enough. You are enough. "I  12 the addition of "You are enough" 13 it shows they are not only thinking about their value but the value of others. How 14 is that?

I also received an email from one of the 15 of my students. She told me she found a picture of hearts with the 16, “I am enough, you are enough” on her daughter's desk. I couldn't 17 this simple saying was reaching so 18 and so far. It made my heart filled with 19 thinking how blessed (有福的) I am to get to 20 with these kind little souls every day.

At 39 weeks pregnant most women (怀孕妇女) would only be thinking of racing to hospital. But not Amber Miller, who set off to run the Chicago(芝加哥)Marathon (马拉松赛) ,while expecting her second child any day.

As she neared the final stage of the race, she began to feel pain in the stomach. But the determined athlete managed to cross the finish line in 6 hours and 25 minutes.

Unbelievably the Chicago race was not even baby June's first marathon — Miller ran the Wisconsin Marathon earlier this year, four months pregnant. She also ran another marathon when she was about four months pregnant with her son, Caleb.

Although there was extra weight, the seasoned runner's time was just 3 hours off her personal best.

Miller began to feel pain near the end of the race, but she was not sure if it was labor (分娩), because she typically feels some pain when she runs while pregnant. After her race her husband drove her to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield where she gave birth to the healthy 7 pounds, 13 ounce baby.

Miller decided to run because she and her husband had already signed up for the race. The athletic mother said she experienced an enthusiastic welcome from crowds as she ran along. But the devoted runner, who had completed eight marathons, admitted that she did get a few strange looks along the course.

"I know what I can handle. This is something I've been doing for a long time，" the experienced marathon runner said.

June was born at 10：29 p.m. on Sunday night after seven hours' labor. "She's absolutely perfect," Miller said. "We are extremely happy, but very tired."

After her surprising double achievement, Miller says she is planning to take some time off to concentrate on being a full­time mom.

I was never very neat, while my roommate Kate was extremely organized. Each of her objects had its place, but mine always hid somewhere. She even labeled (贴标签) everything. I always looked for everything. Over time, Kate got nearer and I got messier. She would push my dirty clothing over, and I would lay my books on her tidy desk. We both got tired of each other.

War broke out one evening. Kate came into the room. Soon, I heard her screaming, "Take your shoes away! Why under my bed!" Deafened, I saw my shoes flying at me. I jumped to my feet and started yelling. She yelled back louder.

The room was filled with anger. We could not have stayed together for a single minute but for a phone call. Kate answered it. From her end of the conversation, I could tell right away her grandma was seriously ill. When she hung up, she quickly crawled (爬) under her covers, sobbing.

Obviously, that was something she should not go through phone. All of a sudden, a warm feeling of sympathy rose up in my heart,

Slowly, I collected the pencils, took back the books, made my bed, cleaned the socks and swept the floor, even on her side. I got so into my work that I even didn't noticed Kate had sat up.

She was watching, her tears dried and her expression one of disbelief. Then, she reached out her hands to grasp mine. I looked up into her eyes. She smiled at me. "Thanks."

Kate and I stayed roommates for the rest of the year. We didn't always agree, but we learned the key to living together: giving in. cleaning up and holding on.

Piggy banks have been around for a long time, but did you ever wonder why people thought to make their banks in the shape of a pig?

Pigs have nothing to do with money. They don't store food like a camel or a squirrel. So how did we end up using a pig as the style of a bank? Believe it or not, it happens by mistake.

During the 15th century, metal was very expensive. Dishes and pots are made of a type of inexpensive orange clay called pygg, which was pronounced just like pig . At this time there weren't banks like we have today, so people would store their money at home.

When people had extra coins to save, they would place them in clay jars or pots. Since the type of play was called pygg , people called the jars pygg banks. Over time, this evolved(发展) into piggy banks.

After a few hundred years, people forgot that the word pygg referred to the clay the banks were made from. The English language was also changing and the word pig was more commonly used. So in the 19th century when English potters（陶艺家）began to make piggy banks ,they thought their customers were asking for banks in the shape of pigs, not banks made from pygg.

Today piggy banks are made from all kinds of materials. And they also come in a variety of shapes and animals. But the term piggy bank is still used.

Many facts suggest that children are overweight and the situation is getting worse, according to the doctors. ．

Some people blame the fact that we are surrounded by shops selling unhealthy, fatty foods ,such as fried chicken and ice cream, at low prices. , then probably children would buy less take-away food．

There is another argument that blames parents for allowing their children to become overweight. I agree with this, because good eating habits begin early in life, long before children start to visit fast food shops. If parents often give their children fried chicken and chocolate rather than healthy food, they will go for sweet and salty foods，and children will find it hard to get rid of the habit.

There is a third reason for this situation. Children these days take very little exercise. They do not walk to school. When they get home，they sit in front of the television or their computers and play computer games.．What they need is to go outside and play active games or sports.

The above are the main reasons for this problem.., as well as forcing them away from fast food shops and bad eating habits．

Cartoonist: Charles Schulz

Charles Schulz is a true hero. For nearly 50 years, Schulz's comic strip, the Peanuts collection has been the most well-known cartoon in the world. It has 355 million daily readers in 75 countries. On February 13th, 2000, Schulz died of cancer. But he will always be remembered by people old and young worldwide.

In Schulz's works, he always stayed positive. He tried to give readers a happy feeling. Kids like Peanuts because the characters live a simple life and go through the same troubles as they do. He did not pick out stressful topics of the day. Instead, he always brought readers into a joyful world by writing about a happy place with simple stories.

Schulz was also a good father of four children. It's said that he never failed to stop his work to play a pick-up baseball game or have lunch with his family. He was always very involved in his children's lives and supported their decisions. He taught them the importance of a person's inner worth. His family describes Schulz as a man with the fewest needs.

His youngest daughter, Jill, said, "He's a fighter, but he always has bad luck." When Schulz learned his cancer was serious, he was forced to give up the job he loved - writing the Peanuts cartoons. Unluckily, Schulz died the night before the last strip of his comics came out in the Sunday papers. Some might say this was unlucky, but Jill said her father enjoyed spending his whole life writing to make people happy.

Charles Schulz put a little comedy into our often-stressful world. He will be remembered as the world's favorite cartoonist. "You're a good man, Charles Schulz!"

Louis Cha Leung-yung, better known by his pen name Jin Yong, passed away at 94 years old on Oct 30, 2018 in Hong Kong. He was a journalist and a political critic . But to most people, ⑴he is a great writer whose works have great influence on Chinese people.

During his lifetime, Jin Yong wrote 15 wuxia (martial arts and chivalry) novels in total. ⑵他的小说被翻译成了英语、法语和许多其它的语言。 Over 100 million copies of his books have been sold around the world. He has many fans outside of Chinese- speaking areas, because his works were adapted into films, television series and electronic games.

Jin Yong's books are not only about heroes who fight for fairness and righteousness. ⑶They also show people the beauty of almost every field of Chinese culture. He turns novels into an encyclopedia of Chinese history, medicine, geography and mathematics.

Jin Yong has been honored by many top universities in China and around the world⑷但是他更喜欢通过努力学习来获得成功。He went to Cambridge University in the UK when he was 81 and got his PhD (Doctor of Philosophy five years later in 2010.

⑸Jin Yong once said that he hoped people would still read his books 100 or 200 years after his death. It is probably safe to say that as long as the noble qualities that were mentioned in his stories never die out, neither will his great works themselves.
