It was a Sunday afternoon. My younger brother and I were alone at home. My parents went for a party and asked me to look after my younger brother. I was doing my homework while my younger brother was watching TV. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Ding 一 Dong! My younger brother thought that it was our parents, so he opened the1quickly.
A tall man wearing a black raincoat stood outside. He said that he came to sell
books and he2politely, "Are your parents at home?"
Without thinking, my younger brother said, "No." Then the man asked, "Would you like to3some books?" I told him we didn't want to buy any books. When I wanted to close the door, he suddenly pushed (推) the door very heavily and came into our house. He took out a4and ordered me to tie (绑) up my younger brother's hands with a rope (绳子). I tied up his hands in a special way so that my younger brother could untie5easily. The man then tied my hands up and locked6of us in the kitchen. Soon, he went upstairs to7money. I taught my younger brother to untie the rope on his hands. He then untied me. I rushed to the telephone to call the police,8the line was dead. The doors were all locked. It was lucky that the man9to lock the kitchen window. So we got out of the house through the kitchen window and went to the10pay phone to call the police.
Soon the police came to our house and the police11the man later. By that time, my parents had come home, We told them the whole story. My parents were happy that we were not hurt. They told us that we shouldn't12the door to strangers. We learnt a lesson on safety.

◇The exhibits (展品) 一 See what is on show at the museum at all times, and what special exhibitions are held for a short time.
The history of the museum 一 There will often be very interesting stories about the exhibits and the benefactors (捐赠者). That can make your visit more interesting.
◇Activities 一 See whether there are talks, tours or special activities on the day when you visit. Many museums hold some activities that meet the interests of all age groups.
◇Cost, food and storage 一 It's important to know how much the visit will cost. You hate to decide whether you can eat there or not. You might also need to find out about your transportation needs, as well as storage for coats, bags, etc.
◇Learn at least one thing on your visit. It's always good to take away something new from your visit.
◇Plan breaks into your visit. When you walk around, standing here and studying exhibits there, you may become very tired. So it's important to take breaks. A break is a good opportunity for you to think of what you have seen and what else you might want to do in the museum.
◇Take a friend. Visiting museums is always a lot more fun when you are with someone else. You can talk over what you're seeing. A friend also brings another way of thinking when you talk about the exhibits.

The American Computer &. Robotics Museum was open to visitors in 1990 in Bozeman, Montana. At first it was planned to build in Princeton, New Jersey. The founders moved to Bozeman in 1988 and after looking at the area they decided to build the museum there. With Yellowstone National Park to the south and Glacier National Park to the northwest, the museum attracts thousands of visitors from all 50 states and over 50 countries. The American Computer &. Robotics Museum has been written about in many publications such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, QST and USA Today.

We have had visitors aged from3 to 93- it is a big family. Over 1,000 exhibitions are shown in the 6, 000-squaremetre museum. Travelling through our museum, you will see the exciting 20,000 years of history of the information age. Technology becomes easier to accept when one learns about its origins(起源) in the natural process(进程) of human development.

Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15,1452 in Italy. He is best known as an artist today. One of his famous is called Mona Lisa. However, Leonardo had many other natural abilities. He was also a great inventor. Many of his have become important in modern daily life.
Although Leonardo hated he invented many different machines used for wars. His most special invention was the machine gun, which was produced and used in war many years later.

One day, a baby snail (蜗牛) found that he had to carry a big and heavy shell at any time. He was confused (困惑的), so he went up to his mother and asked, "Why was I born with a shell that grew so hard and heavy?" His mother said, "Because we don't have bones to hold us up. We can only move slowly, so we need a shell to protect us."
The baby snail asked again, "The caterpillar (毛毛虫) has no bones, and she can't move quickly. Why can she live without a shell?" The mother snail answered, "That's because a caterpillar will become a butterfly. She can fly high into the sky. The sky can protect her." The baby snail had one more question, "But the earthworm (蚯蚓) moves like us. He has no bones and he won't turn into a butterfly. Why doesn't he carry a hard and heavy shell?" His mother said, "He can dig a hole and hide in the ground, and then the earth can protect him.
The baby snail then cried, "We are so poor! We have no protection from the sky or from the ground!" His mother smiled at him, "That's why we have a shell. My dear, imagine that if we don't have shells, what will happen to us? Hot sun will dry out our bodies and we'll have nowhere to sleep. What's worse, we'll die in the heavy rain. How terrible it is! We don't depend on the sky or the ground for protection. We should depend on ourselves.
