My neighbor is a doctor. He and his wife are some of the 1 people I have ever met. A few years ago, we started this kind of "favor war" where one of us would do something kind for the other, such as 2 the driveway or building a shed, and next time the other would 3 to top it with another favor.
Yesterday morning there was about 2 or 3 feet of snow on the ground and I 4 he shoveled (铲) my driveway for me when I was out on a business trip last 5. So I took out my shovel and took care of both our sidewalks and driveways because it was my turn to do a favor6. It took a while but I finished it with another favor.
That night I got a 7 on my door. It was my neighbor, He immediately shook my hand and thanked me for shoveling 8 driveway and side walk, so that he was able to get to work earlier and 9 a boy.
"As soon as I started the car early this morning, a(n) 10 came through that a young boy in our neighborhood was seriously ill. 11minutes," added he. "A young boy got to live his life 12 you did me that favor earlier this morning. "
It wasn't too much 13 to shovel a driveway, but what I did got a young boy to see his family again, go back to school again and live his life again.

One of my best friends went abroad to enjoy her holidays, so the job of looking after her dog Missy has been given to me. A few months ago, Missy came to my friend's house. She looked terrible. She has been abused for a long time.
When we first visited my friend and Missy, my friend had to gently pull her over on a lead (牵绳) to get her to come to us. She wanted to come but afraid to do so—the poor, beautiful thing. Clearly Missy came to the right home. My friend has given birth to a baby of his own and shows the love of a mother. This is just what Missy needs. Thanks to the love of my friend, she has changed into a new dog step by step. Sadly, she is still afraid of strange humans. I hate to imagine what the dog must have gone through.
Now, Missy trusts me completely, so I can touch her berry（肚皮）.While standing, she will jump up so gently to be closer to me, putting her paws（爪子）on my legs as she looks at me with those beautiful eyes.
Missy is really brave. She has the courage to try again, to open her hearts, and to know that not everyone is the same kind of people as before. Keep it in mind that tomorrow is another day.

"Kids can make a difference." Craig Kielburger said. When Craig was 12, he （开办）a group that has helped kids all over the world.
How did Craig get started? In the seventh grade he learned something that made him （生气）. A 6-year-old boy in Pakistan was sent to work in a factory. The boy could not go to school. He could not even play. He had no freedom (自由) at all.
Craig （比较）that with his own life. Laws in his country said that kids must go to school. （教育）was free to all kids. But in some countries school was not free. Children from poor families went to work instead of to school.
Craig wanted to help those who didn't have the same （优势）as he and his friends. As a result, Craig and some friends started Free The Children.
Craig and his friends decided that Free The Children should （筹集）money to build schools. Craig hoped that learning would help kids in poverty (贫困) live （更好）.
Today, Craig's charity has more than one million members in 45 countries. It is （仍然）going strong. The money they have raised has done many good things. It has helped build more than 500 schools around the world. It also pays for health care in （贫困）communities.
Craig has had a lot of success. However, he still remembers his unpleasant start in the seventh grade.
"We were laughed at by other kids, who said you （不能）change things," he says. Still, Craig didn't give up. Now he wants more kids to help. "Go to free the children.com. Bring it to your teachers," he says. "As you gain more confidence, friends will join you. It just gets easier."

People who are scared of heights should try not to drive over a new bridge in Guizhou. The new bridge, called the Beipanjiang Bridge, is the highest one in the world. Located near Bijie in Guizhou Province, the bridge stands 565 meters above a deep river. It connects the mountainous provinces of Guizhou and Yunnan. Just how high is the new bridge? Think of a 200-storey(层) building.
Guizhou Province is already home to seven of the ten highest bridges in China. The Beipanjiang Bridge has just overtaken (超过 ) the Sidu River Bridge in Hubei Province to become the worlds highest.
The building of the Beipanjiang Bridge started in 2012 and it was opened to traffic (通车) on December 29 ,2016. It cost about 100 million yuan.
The Beipanjiang Bridge is part of a highway（高速公路) connecting Hangzhou City in Zhejiang Province and Ruili City in Yunnan Province. The bridge is 1, 341 4 meters long and it cuts the travel time from Liupanshui in Guizhou to Xuanwei in Yunnan from around five hours to just over an hour.
China is no stranger to record-breaking bridges. The second- and third-highest bridges in the world are also locateed in the country. The Beipanjiang Bridge is five meters higher than the previous（先前的）record holder.
