The journey my daughter Cathy has had with her swimming is as long as it is beautiful.
Cathy suffered some terrible1in her early childhood. After years of treatment, she finally became healthy.
Two years ago, while Cathy was watching the Olympics, a dream came into her sweet little head-to be a swimmer. Last summer, she wanted to2our local swimming team. She practiced hard and finally3it. The team practice, however, was a hard start. She coughed and choked and could hardly pull through her first few weeks. Hearing her coughing seriously one night, I decided to4her from it all. But Cathy woke me up early next morning, wearing her swimsuit ready to go! I told her she shouldn't swim after a whole night's coughing, but she refused to5and insisted she go.
From that day on, Cathy kept swimming and didn't6a single practice. She always tried her best to be the best. My ten-year-old was growing and changing right before my eyes, into this determined human being. There were moments of sadness of course: often she would be the last swimmer in the race. It was difficult for Cathy to accept that she wasn't a7— ever. But that didn't stop her from trying.
Then came the final awards ceremony(颁奖典礼) at the end of the year. Cathy didn't expect any award but was still there to cheer for her friends. As the ceremony was nearing the end, I suddenly heard the head coach announcing, "The highest honor goes to Cathy!" Looking around, he continued," Cathy has inspired us with her8and warmth.9skills and talents bring great success, the most valuable asset(财富)one can hold is the heart."
It was the greatest10of my daughter's life. With all she had been through in her ten years, this was the hour of true success.

Tom walked into a shop. It had a sign outside: "Second-hand clothes bought and sold." He was carrying an old pair of trousers and asked the owner of the shop, "How much will you give me for these？"The man looked at them and then said: "Two dollars."
"What!" said Tom." I had guessed they were worth(值……钱)at least five dollars."
"No," said the man, "they aren't worth a cent more than two dollars."
"Well," said Tom, taking two dollars out of his pocket." Here's your money. These trousers were hanging outside your shop. The list price(标价)of them was six dollars and a half. But I thought that was too much money, so I wanted to find out how much they were really worth."
Then he walked out of the shop with the pair of trousers and disappeared before the shop owner could think of anything to say.
I have been reading Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. In this book, Fern lives on a farm. At the start of the book, a piglet has recently been born. He is very small. Fern's father is going to kill him. But Fern saves the piglet. She calls him Wilbur and feeds him. When he is big enough, Wilbur goes to live in a barn that belongs to Fern's uncle.
In the barn, Wilbur makes a friend called Charlotte. She is a spider. Wilbur finds out that Fern's uncle is going to kill him for meat. Wilbur asks Charlotte for help.
Charlotte helps by writing words in her web so that people will think Wilbur is a special pig.
My favourite part of the book is when Wilbur has gone to the fair. The family have been at the fair too. They have helped Wilbur to get ready for a competition, but now they have gone home. Wilbur is nervous and Charlotte is working on a new web. This is an exciting part of the book.
The best character is Templeton, the rat. He is funny. I also like the geese. I think the writer makes them seem real.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a nice story but the end was a bit sad.
Mr. Lee was in bed and was trying to go to sleep when he heard the doorbell ring. He tuned on the light and looked at his clock. It was twelve o'clock. "Who can it be at this time of night?" He thought. He decided to go and find out. So he got out of bed, put on his dressing gown(睡袍)and went to the door. When he opened the door, there was nobody there. "That is very strange." Then he went back to his bedroom, took off his dressing gown, got back into bed, turned off the light and tried to go to sleep.
Five minutes later, he heard the bell again. Mr. Lee jumped out of bed very quickly and rushed to the door. He opened it, but again he found no one there. He closed the door and tried not to feel angry. Then he saw a piece of paper on the floor. He picked it up. There were some words on it: "It is now after midnight, so it is April Fool's Day. April fool to you!"
"Oh, it was the English boy next door!" Mr. Lee exclaimed (惊叫)and smiled. Then he went back to bed and fell asleep at once. The bell did not ring again.

It is necessary for children to help their parents with housework. But most parents may find it difficult to get their children to help with it, because children usually enjoy playing games instead of doing housework. However, I have some good ways to get my children to do housework. Here is an example.
"Mum, what's next week's housework? Let Kitty and me choose the cards. I can't wait. It's interesting!"
When my son, 7-year-old Tommy shouted, I began to put all the cards on the sofa. On the cards, I wrote some words like these, "wash the car, take out the rubbish, make the bed, do the dishes, clean the living room, sweep the floor, wash the clothes, take the dog for walks, water the flowers" and so on.
Kitty and Tommy chose two cards for each day from Monday to Friday. Then they wrote them down on their notebooks. Tommy likes to take the dog for walks best while Kitty enjoys cleaning the living room. Soon the two kids had fun taking away all the cards. And I didn't need to worry about the housework again. Of course, on weekends, I usually do the housework myself and set the children free.
