三、阅读理解
  • 17. 阅读理解

When you communicate with others, you express your thoughts and feelings not only through the words you choose, but also through your body language.

To learn another language is more than just learning words and grammar. It involves (包括) learning about another culture too. Body language is different from culture to culture, so there is something that language learners should know about.

Sometimes, cultural differences in body language can cause discomfort or misunderstanding. For example, there are cultural differences in how much distance should be kept between two people who are talking with each other. If you would like people to keep a distance, you may feel very uncomfortable when someone keeps trying to stand close to you at a party.

In some Asian countries, a smile can show embarrassment(尴尬) or apology. However, smiling back at a teacher who is unhappy with you, or someone whose foot you accidentally stepped upon is probably not a good idea in most English-speaking countries.

In most countries, nodding your head means "yes" and shaking your head means "no". However, nodding and shaking your head have the opposite meanings in Albania.

Even speakers of the same language, such as British, American or Australian people, may not use the same body language .So learning how to understand and use body language is important to you to improve your communicative abilities.
