I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day. You will probably love it. I know I did. You should join some sports or activities that will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Good luck!

The most important thing to keep in mind when going into high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don't know what your middle school was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It's best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so you can achieve everything you need to do.

When I started high school, I was really nervous too, especially since I had been home schooled all through middle school and didn't really know anyone. I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier before you know it.

I'm not going to lie. The first day is kind of frightening. But you'll get used to it. Don't be afraid of anyone; upperclassmen will pick on(J E )you more if you let them know you're afraid. Just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly. After the first week it's really not bad at all. Don't worry.
As Amy Hagdorn rounded the corner across the hall from her classroom, she ran into a tall boy from the fifth grade running in the opposite direction.
"Watch it. Squirt." the boy yelled, as he kept away from the little third grader. Then, with an unfriendly smile on his face, the boy took hold of his right leg and imitated the way Amy limped(跛行) when she walked.
Amy closed her eyes for a moment.
"Forget it!" she told herself as she headed for her classroom.
It wasn't as if he were the only one. It seemed that ever since Amy started the third grade, someone teased her every single day. The tease made Amy feel all lonely.
Back home at the dinner table that evening, Amy was quiet. Her mother knew that things were not going well at school. That's why Patti Hagdorn was happy to have some exciting news to share with her daughter
"There's a Christmas Wish Contest on the newspaper, she announced." Write a letter to Santa and you might win a prize.
Out came a pencil and a piece of paper and Amy went to work on her letter. She wrote:
Dear Santa Claus,
My name is Amy. I am 9 years old. I have a problem at school. Can you help me, Santa? Kids laugh at me because of the way I walk and run and talk. I have cerebral palsy(脑瘫). I just want one day when no one laughs at me or makes fan of me.

The next day, a picture of Amy and her letter to Santa made the front page of the News Sentinel. The little girl's story spread quickly. She asked for such a simple, yet remarkable Christmas gift-just one day without being teased.
During that unforgettable Christmas season, over two thousand people from all over the world sent Amy letters or cards of friendship and support.
Amy did get her wish of a special day without being teased. Additionally, teachers and students in her school talked together about how bad tease can make others feel.
As scientists in the Netherlands tried to figure out how to build a super flying robot, they learned from one of nature s flyers: the humble fruit fly(果蝇).And by building this robot, they've gained new insights into how the fly carries out one of its dangerous tasks.
The robot is called the DelFly Nimble Its wingspan(冀展)is about a foot wide. It has four wings that can beat at 17 times per second, which appear very delicate because they're made of the same material as space blankets.
In the previous designs, they always had a tail, like a traditional airplane tail, said the robots main designer Matej Karasek. He's based at the Micro Air Vehicle Laboratory at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and he and his colleagues published their findings on Thursday in Science
“In the previous generations", he said, "flapping wings drove the robot forward while the tail helped to guide and stabilize it. But now the DelFly Nimble is completely controlled by the wings. The challenge then was actually combine the control into the wing movement, and that's what we achieved, Karasek said
In the latest generation. the wings can each move individually or rotate(旋转)around the body of the robot in order to maximize the machine s agility(灵活 ) The robot can remain in one place in the air for about five minutes on a full battery or fly for more than a kilometer"， Karasek said, "And because the scientists are controlling all the movements, they can use the robot to learn more about how fruit flies actually carry out their dangerous tasks, which has caught the attention of biologists.”
You discover a shampoo that leaves your hair looking beautiful. But gradually, as you use it more, it's magical effects seem to disappear. "It's just your hair getting used to it, "your mom says. And so you put the shampoo away and look for your next wonder product.
It sort of makes sense -why would something that left you looking nice at first suddenly start losing its effect after some time? Are there some other factors(因素)at play? Can your hair really get used to a certain shampoo?
Marie Claire spoke to hair experts and it turns out that it's not true. Your hair cannot get so used to a product that it just stops working.

"A shampoo does not stop working because your hair get used to it, she said." Your state of health may also be different from a recent illness.
In other words, you need to give up blaming the shampoo. So what can you do to make your hair look beautiful for a little longer? Alvarez suggests changing your ways of hair care when factors, such as the weather, change. Experts also suggest keeping an eye on the amount of shampoo and conditioner(H%i )you're using because over conditioning can be bad for your hair.
Helpful ways to deal with a know-it-all friend
Sometimes having a friend who thinks she knows everything and always offers her unsolicited(主动提供的) advice can really make one upset. But with some ways to deal with know-it-all, you can easily cope with that friend. Also a know-it-all friend often acts as if she were the best.
Try to understand. There may be a reason why your know-it-all friend does so. Maybe she has low self-esteem(自尊),or she's not happy in her life. This tip is very important, especially if the know-it-all is your best friend
Give her a little attention. Giving a little attention is one of the best ways to deal with a know-it-all friend. Show some enthusiasm about what the know-it-all says to give her enough attention, Or this can lead to her giving more unsolicited advice Often the know-it-all friend can say some not-so-nice things, and these things are usually about you. Instead of thinking that something is not okay with you, never take her comments and advice personally. If you do so, you may really begin to become unnecessarily anxious.
Have a talk with her. If you're sick and tired of all those unsolicited advice, come right out with it. Speak politely and don't insult(辱骂)her. Try to find a good time to talk to her. Tell your know-it-all friend how it makes you feel and maybe she will respond well

When I was in high school, I belonged to a club that did community service work. There was one special1that was uncommon for me. I spent three or four hours2out warm dinner to the homeless out in the streets and then in a homeless3not far from the Bay Bridge as well.
I was in high school and at the time my little sister was too 4to join in. She wanted to help, so she made many chocolate chip cookies for me to5and hand out to people. When getting to the shelter(避难所 ).I passed out the6 .I began making sandwiches and7them with the crowd. I had the boxes with my sisters8in them and began to9around offering them to anyone near me.

I told him I had, and his eyes 11a little bit and said "No one has ever called me sir in the Past 60 years." So he was completely 12when I did so.
It shocked me. I explained I had been raised that whatever a person's13and social position were, he deserved respect. It 14me to think that just because he was homeless, no one 15 him the honor. It broke my heart. I just didn't understand why no one ever called him sir, I had never thought that anyone was 16me because I wasn't raised that way. Every 17 person deserves to be treated with respect. Years later, I still18that memory and the19it taught me .Sometimes, what we take for granted can20make a difference in someone s life.

Yesterday, I read article about the Hongkong Zhuhai macao Bridge, the longer sea-crossing bridge in the world. It is55 kilometers long, which lifespan(使用寿命) is set at120 years. And it can stand heavy storm and earthquakes. What's more, the travel time among Hongkong and Zhuhai is cut from 3 hours to just 30 minutes.
After reading the article, I feel wildly excited. In my opinion, drive a car on the bridge was an enjoyable experience. Besides, my dad didn't agree with me, because she was not skillful at switching (切换 ) freely between Chinese driving and English driving. Though I can understand him now, but I do hope someday we can drive on the bridge.
